I made myself a salad by topping a bed of romaine lettuce with homemade chicken salad. Then I took a hamburger patty and put sauteed mushrooms on top, and added a side of leftover pork n beans.

Left-over chicken and dumplings and fresh pineapple for dessert. I feel well-fed!

No dinner tonight. We went to a birthday brunch, ate too much, and have been dragging around all day. Neither one of us are used to eating heavily at 10:30 in the morning. Left there and went to Costco since we were close, Fred Meyer (there isn't one here locally) then home and had company for a while. Brunch was at a casino. The food is good, I had bacon and tomato omelet, more. And I did gamble a little before we left. I had almost lost my $20, won it back so played some more (slots) and that time I did lose it. DH lost his $5 on a penny machine and quit :) We're not gamblers, and I must say, its a lot more fun when I can break even or win a little. My SIL had begun with $200 and was up to almost $700 in winnings when we left, she has more disposable income than I feel I do.

I must not be "normal"....I've had some wicked chills all day so it was leftover lentil soup for me. Robert went out to pick up a takeout order from a nearby Mexican restaurant.

Glenda, I've been in restaurants before when the tour bus pulls in. It's a madhouse trying to get everyone's order and food to them in a timely manner. I sure feel sorry for those waitresses/waiters, and hope the get nice tips. Shirley, I need to do that, too. I haven't found a new cleaning service yet, so I'm trying to do just the basics. Enough to keep the health dept. away :-) You had a great-sounding dinner, BTW! Sweet Betsy, do you put beans in your chili? I used to but one day I didn't have any and I never went back to adding them. Orchidllauraga, I just love Stouffer's lasagna. I bought one because I'd heard they were good and swore I'd never make my own again. The LSU/Bama game is probably the game of the year. Sorry, but don't count on LSU winning. Alabama is on like a 5 or 6 year roll! Seagrass, LOL! But that really is a hubby loving meal. I wouldn't mind it myself. Marilyn, beware! We built a huge garage/workshop/man cave when we lived in OT. It took Harry about one week to fill it up until there was no longer room for the car. He even built a loft to hold the spill over. All that stuff had been lurking in the attic. You're nice to fix him his favorites. That happens to be MY favorite, too :-) In fact, that's what I requested every year for my birthday meal (only we call them noodles). Sue, you sure can't beat the price of that meal. I'd sure love a piece of that pie! Kittiemom, I haven't made black bean soup over rice for many years. Don't know why other than the fact my recipe is loaded with bacon. But it's sooo good! Bet it was good! Geez, Mary. You cleaned your house AND made a yummy dinner! You surely will sleep well tonight. Pam, oh boo! I'm sorry your GS's team lost. Glad you weren't cold, though. Patti, that sounds delicious. I didn't get my share of cookout food this summer, darn it! Bengardening, what a fun evening. Hope the evening is a success for the firemen and hope you win some big bucks!! Raven, now you know how to enjoy watching a football game, girl! Those mushrooms sound awesome.

Raven, I read about your evening. Sure wish I could've been there. I love Mike and Nita! Glad you found a good place to eat. Shirley, that sounds a whole lot better than Alka-Seltzer Plus :-) Kittiesmom, I never would've thought of marsala sauce on steak but it's a wonderful idea. I always double the sauce because I want it on everything!! Mary, hope you have your cleaning finished. I still need to mop floors before Wednesday. OldFixer, if I thought it's help, I'd surely do it, but for now it's cherry-flavored plop, plop, fizz, fizz! Caroline, after tasting Stouffer's I vowed never to make my own again. Love that stuff! Sue, I'm still craving KFC. One of these days--woohoo! Terri, be still my heart!! I'm so happy to see you serve something you didn't make from scratch--takes away my guilt feelings :-) I think to myself I should be cooking like you. After all, you have the kids, a job, sports, running kids to school functions and still find time to make bread, cookies, etc. K (okay if I just call you K?) I copied and pasted your dinner for the days ahead. I have a jar of green enchilada sauce I bought for something and have now forgotten what it was. That sounds good and easy. Thanks! Thanks everyone, I am feeling better. I slept almost 12 hours. Geez, I must be reverting back to my teens when I could sleep forever. I think it's just a cold, but I always get a little nervous when I don't feel right.

GS had a ballgame at 12:30, so I stopped by a new deli, Jimmy John's and got a tuna salad sandwich.

After game, a mother from the other team, tapped me on the shoulder and wanted to know what kind of sandwich I was eating. Said when I took the first half out to eat,, the smell had everyone drooling around her. And when I had the second half someone said they had to know :o)

T'was good, but I didn't know it drew so much attention while I was eating it. lol

We went out to an Irish-themed tasting dinner. Had salmon patties, shepherd's pie, corned beef and potatoes, bubble and squeak with sausage and a chocolate Guinness parfait. Quite tasty and a treat!

Gadgets I am not sure where I read or heard what to do with it. It was either googled or from my brother who knows a lot about saving food. I think he learned it from my DM. Tonight I had the second piece that was supposed to be my DH until he told me he was going to be gone and it was just as delicious. I just used flour and Lawry seasoning salt and fried it. I think I have about 8 more pieces. Because we are Catholic I will try to use them during lent now on Friday's because we don't eat meat.

Broiled Talipia fillets, steamed asparagus then sauteed in grape oil and herbs, and sweet potato fries.

Hubby wanted hamburgers and we had no buns. As I was making bread I tried making one loaf into hamburger buns.
They turned out great!

Had cheeseburgers with a slice of Spanish onion, tomatoes and lettuce and roasted carrots and parsnips and potato slices. Delicious
