We seemed to have spent the day running around. I got new glasses, which is always exciting. BTW, how are your eyes??

Before we left I put a pork roast in the slow cooker and we had boiled potatoes and cabbage with it. Leftovers will be pulled-pork for a dinner thru the week.

Even though I had a lot of other things to do today, I finally decided to do some cooking too. My evening meal was pork chops fixed with Stouffer's stuffing, a potato, and fordhook lima beans. I didn't need it but ate a raisin filled cookie for dessert.

Friends had a bonfire, really just a fire in a fire pit, and we roasted hot dogs and their son made hot wings. It was cool enough to wear a fleece jacket and the wind was blowing. Very autumn day and relaxed.

We went out for dinner. Hubby had the stuffed porkchops, a baked sweet potato and okra. I had salmon, mashed potatoes with gravy and okra. Now we are having a dish of black walnut icecream. We are addicted to this icecream. LOL

Gosh, everyone's dinner sounds so good! I swear that I'm going to get a slow cooker; I must be one of the few that don't.

I'm looking forward to those cool autumn evenings. I sort of miss our little outdoor chiminea....it was enjoyable to sit around a fire and chat over drinks.

Jasdip, my eyes are FABULOUS! My vision gets sharper and brighter every day. I asked Robert this evening if he noticed that the TV reception had improved and he just laughed at me. I simply cannot believe that I have this vision out of my own eyes.

My doctor somehow managed to finess my new lenses so that I feel like I have almost infinite far vision but still can see well enough close up that I've only needed readers for very small print. I can put on my makeup, read most things without my new little readers.

I will donate all of my eye glasses next week. Pretty amazing. I had him, his technician, and myself dabbing our eyes last week at a checkup visit after my second surgery. I made him stop what he was going, I took his hand in mine, leaned close to him and told him how much my new vision meant to me, someone who had really been so burdened by terrible vision since I was a little, tiny girl. I wanted him to know that my life was changed.

Rhizo, I'm so happy for you!!! I didn't realize that your vision had been so poor all of your life. It's too bad that this couldn't have been done before now.

Hubby laughs everytime he does the dishes.......he says the pots and pans and drinking glasses sparkle!

Ha...I'll bet he gets the dishes a whole lot cleaner, too!

For those who didn't catch earlier threads about this, we're talking about cataract surgery. I had no idea that when the old lenses are removed, that they insert new ones that are corrected to a perscription, plus mine also correct very severe astigmatism.

Back to food......all of the mention of porkchops reminded me of a couple of extra thick chops I had in the freezer. They're marinating in buttermilk as we speak. Haven't decided what I'll stuff them with yet.
