My sweet and sour meatballs were a hit. None to bring home.
Fried chicken
creamed corn
green bean casserole
And never before have I had but heard of it: strawberry pretzel congealed salad. Delicious!

Afterward, 7 of us played Mexican dominoes for couple hours.

Beautiful sun shiney day and it's getting better for the weekend.

I just took six little homemade beef pot pies out of the oven. This is the first time I've attempted to make them. First off, I noticed when I was filling them that my beef (stew) mixture could have had more gravy. Almost bought a jar of gravy downtown today but I don't care too much for the taste of it. I suppose a person could pour some gravy over the pie before eating it. Right now they are cooling a bit in the pan before I turn them out on a rack. Wish me luck that they don't fall apart. Sure smell good.

Actually I ate the leftover stew for my supper, won't be a pie tonight.

Leftovers again......I'm getting to the point that I'll be glad when they are all gone! Tonight it's barbecued pork and a salad of some kind. (no leftover salad, thank goodness!)

I had my texas beans, along with a salad. I made both yesterday so there was not much energy expended for my meal or clean up today.

I just don't think I could make a decision of the other meals mentioned so far........all sound so good. Think I'd have to get one of those obsolete big metal trays they used to have in our school cafeteria so I could take some of each.

The chicken that I took out of the freezer on Sunday was still too frozen to work with like I had planned for today, so it is going to be the cheese stuffed shells with tomato basil sauce that is left over from Sunday. A tossed salad to go with, and good crusty bread to dip in seasoned olive oil.

Since this thread is titled "Wednesday", I'll just go ahead and fill in roast chicken for then...that bugger had better be thawed by then.

I have a board of directors meeting tonight and we always have a potluck beforehand.

I'm bringing a layered Mediterranean dip, which is layered hummus, cilantro pesto, cucumber, red onion, marinated artichoke hearts, kalamata olives, feta cheese and sundried tomatoes. Served with pita chips! I hope it's good.

Another follow up: pies are dry and nearly tasteless. I threw away half of the one I tried. So what are some tips for making a good meat pie, chicken or beef? Maybe this should be in a separate thread. sorry.

Patti, you are too funny about this day of the week thing. We went out to eat tonight. French dip, cole slaw and fries. Here's the best part, they were $5 meals! A Tuesday special at a local place my husband will rarely go to.

Glenda, I love that pretzel salad! And the Mexican Train domino game. It's been almost a year since I learned to play!

Schoolhouse, if the stew tasted good before you made the pot pies, they should also have tasted good. Maybe season your stew a little heavier next time. If you want extra gravy, it's not hard to make it in a hurry. Make a roue of butter and flour, brown, stirring, until you have a slightly nutty scent , then add beef broth and bring to a boil whiles stirring. When it has reached the consistency you want, remove from the heat. Add a little to each pie when serving, or have a hot bowl of it for each person to add as they wish. You might want to taste test and add more seasoning that what the broth will give it.

I have hamburger patties ready for the grill, nice big juicy burgers tonight.

we make that pretzel strawberry salad for Christmas every year it's really good.

I can post the recipe we have used for ever if anyone wants it.

Yours look fabulous, I use a pre made crust but you can use home made since it looks like you make pretty ones.

Glenda, sure looks like a good lunch. I've made that strawberry salad but without the pretzel crust--if we're talking about the same salad.

Phyllis, at least you aren't wasting a lot of food. I do much better now that I can see what I have in the refrigerator!

Gazania, a whole chicken takes a long time to thaw, as you well know. It must be a pretty big chicken. You shells sound like a good substitute, though.

LuAnn, I've never had Cuban pork chops--?? Your whole dinner sounds great! I'm hungry for potatoes.

Pam, such a deal! That's a really good meal for $5. I am seriously getting worried about my brain. I had even looked to make sure it was Tuesday before I typed Wednesday. I swear I'm losin' it.

Marilyn, was your "icky" feeling just a passing thing, or did the chicken soup cure you?

Chicken and pasta casserole, and I am just getting around to eating it at 10 pm. Judging by the size of the casserole, I'll be eating every night this week. Hope my son comes by and helps out.

ravencajun, I'd be glad to see your recipe for chix pot pie. I did make the pie crust, I use a short crust recipe with lots of butter which makes it flaky. Takes awhile pinching all that butter into the flour though.

jude31, I have two of those chairs. They were actually painted blue and yellow at one time, hung out in the garage for years until after I remodeled the kitchen and wanted to sit at the table. Suddenly remembered I had those two chairs and brought them in, liked the shabby chic look of them and decided not to repaint at this time. The other chair is in the pantry in case I get company. :) Still looking for just the right chair pads.

I made a new recipe tonight. Swedish meatballs in a sour cream sauce with egg noodles and some asparagus. I found the recipe on Food.com and just made the sauce since I used Ikea meatballs.

The meatballs and the sauce were heaven and I will definately make this again.

It was a rainy nasty day in the northwest today so I planned on comfort food. I made a beef stew, I think it turned out to be one of the best I have ever made, was great with some nice fresh rolls......
