stray cat pooping under my bed

I have this problem regarding a stray cat that keeps on pooping under my bed. This started 3 weeks ago after I came from an out-of-town tour.

I've tried cleaning it with detergent and bleach and spayed it with air freshener and disinfectant but still this cat keeps on pooping under my bed. I don't know where this cat is passing through. It just keeps on annoying me and it's triggering my rhinitis. I was thinking if what if I'll just poison it? but before I resorted to this solution, Can anyone out there please help me on this situation?

I know this is an old post that I started nearly 4 years ago. But I wanted to let Y'all know how things turned out with my Buddy. I had him fixed a few months after the first post. He kept on hunting and became an indoor/outdoor cat. He never made a mess, always used the litter box from day one or went outside to relieve himself. We became the best of friends, he was like a dog! He cuddled, slept with me, followed me everywhere, and ate breakfast with me on weekends. He loved scrambled eggs!! When I would come home from work he would run to greet me if he was outside. If I didn't get right out of my truck he would be on the hood looking in and meowing! If he was inside he would be looking out of the window waiting on me, then greet me at the door. He was so adorable!! And he still loved the garden, he was by my side every day, doing his part in the garden! But sadly he died last November from leukemia. If only I had known that he should have been vaccinated for it he would probably be with me now. He was very protective of his territory and fought with a lot of cats that were invading his territory. That is probably how he got the disease. I had my other cat tested and vaccinated a week after he died.

I went back to mixing Fresh Step, the old litter, with Tidy cat. ItÂs only been 3 days. I will have to check with my husband to see if he has picked up any "deposits" lately. I have not found any. She does not seem to be constipated. I bought some new hairball medicine, which is an oil I have been mixing with her wet food. Unlike all the others I have tried so far, she likes this one. I have been wondering if the oil will make her stool softer too. I started using that maybe 2 weeks ago. The hairballs have now stopped. The floor pooping predates the hairballs (which show up every year in the spring); but IÂm wondering if having hairballs could have caused the uptick in incidence I noticed. The newspaper mostly makes it easier to clean the box. When I dump it, it all slides easily into the garbage. But I have noticed (maybe this is me speculating) that she does not like the feeling of the plastic under the litter on her toes. When I have run out of paper she has objected (donÂt ask me how I know, she just comes to me with this lookÂ). I usually put a heavy sprinkle of baking soda under the paper. I find the paper, which goes up the sides too, wicks the moisture away from just the one spot and makes it dry faster. She does not cover what she does in the box and never has. Just does it and leaves. If IÂm nearby and smell it, I do it!

So, if I understand correctly, he's been doing this for a year now? My guess is something is really stressing him within the new home. Are there any other pets inside or outside the home? Are there any strays hanging around outside your bedroom? He's had a lot of changes thrown at him and I suggest you find a food he likes to eat (not what you think is good for him) and a litter that he'll use. With the litter, start with a clumping clay litter that is unscented (Petco bulk is a good one). If he's never eaten canned then you may have to transition him from dry to canned, but if he was doing well on a particular dry food, and prefers it, then give him that. It just sounds like you have an unhappy, stressed cat and the pooping on the bed is just a symptom. I think the first thing you have to do is put up some type of barrier and keep him out of the room so that he can't continue the behavior. It's just like the routine he had of going in the bathroom sink......preventing access is crucial in breaking the pattern of what is becoming a habit. Carefully observe everything in your home to try to determine what could be upsetting your cat. It seems something changed during the 6 months after your move since he apparently had no problems before the move. Check below for info re: transition from dry to canned food. I second everything kashka_kat said. There is a feral cat population in my neighborhood and I got helped by the local group Feral Fixers that work in DuPage County (probably others around here too). We did eight cats a couple of years ago... six kittens and their two mothers. The mothers were ferals that got released, the kittens were socialized and adopted... three of them by me! My kitties mama is our resident feral now and sleeps in our garage, but doesn't want to be a pet. I also have boxes outside for her and a few others that come around. The TNR group helps with trapping and transporting cats to PAWS in Chicago where they do low cost spay/neuter and vet care (vaccines, wormer, etc.) for these homeless cats. The cat can be scanned for an existing microchip also to check for an owner. Homeless cats that are deemed friendly often will go shelters or fosters to be adopted. Truly feral cats get ear-tipped (to indicate they are already neutered and cared for) and released. The ferals can do well here with the help of an insulated shelter box and a source of food and fresh water over the winter. When they are outdoors all year they get a nice thick coat and with enough food put on some winter weight too. There are lots of easy and cheap feral shelter plans online. It may be getting a bit too late to spay/neuter and release a feral this year due to the cold though. Don't make the mistake of just putting food and shelter out for this cat with no attempt to ever trap it to see if it is neutered. Well meaning people who feed but don't neuter are just making the feral cat population worse. Putting out food and shelter may attract other cats as well. That is what happened in our neighborhood. I thought there was just one skinny little cat and gave her some food and built a shelter. Then a few months go by and she's pregnant... and oh now there is yet another cat with kittens in the box that I didn't even know existed! The TNR group said there was at least one known cat hoarder around here that moved and left all these cats behind. They spread out, fought over turf, and continued breeding. All the while getting fed by well meaning suckers...err...people all over town. :)

MR lives in the Philippines so I assume his home is open to the outdoors, as are a lot of homes in Hawaii.

Your rhinitis is probably reacting to the disinfectant and bleach more than to the cat coming being there. Are you allergic to cats?
If it's available, buy an enzyme product made for removing cat poop/pee odors....usually found at pet stores. Bleach, etc. has little effect on such odors if you're dealing with a carpet type flooring.

Try feeding the stray and make it your friend instead of killing it.

Make sure all windows are closed and doors and shut tightly. You can spray something very pungent to cats under your bed to keep it from coming under there. They will not like the smell

I'm glad your problem is solved but also hope that the cat is ok!!!!! And really CURIOUS if you wouldn't mind explaining how this happened......because in all honesty it does sound a bit far fetched, however we do understand housing is different around the world.

hi lisa11310, i just followed the advise of Annz. we also made a thorough inspection of the house and found out that there is a gap between the roof and our ceiling where the cat is passing through, so we sealed it. I happened to see that the cat belongs to our neighbor's so i told her how her cat is misbehaving... honestly i don't know what she did with the cat maybe she caged her.. or just kept it inside her house.

I just want to thank you guys for all the advise.
