Pumpkin Pie help

Hi all, I'm a lurker who has a recipe for pumpkin pie that has been in the family for years and years. Since I make it only once a year, I have yet to totally feel comfortable with it. Would one of you pie masters please help? It has a great taste but it seems to either be too grainy or something. Here is the recipe.

4 Heaping Tablespoons pumpkin

3/4 C Brown Sugar

1/4 C White Sugar

1 C Pet Milk

dash of salt

1/4 Teaspoon nutmeg

1/2 Teaspoon Cinnamon

3 Beaten Eggs

Cook slowly on top of stove til thick add 2 T. butter and put in cooked

pie shell. Be sure shell and filling are the same temperature, either hot or cold.

It is a light yummy pie but either I cook it too long and the egg separates or maybe I'm not cooking it long enough. Any suggestions? Thanks for your help.
