Please help with 2nd grade book selection

I have been asked to read a book to my sons 2nd grade class the day before they go on Thanksgiving Holiday Vacation, the teacher has requested we hen bring in a "snack" pertaining to the book to coordinate with the theme. I need help with a book selection...I guess I like to do a book on the holiday such a the pilgrims but i want to bring a snac that the kids wil atually enjoy most would turn there noses up to cranberries or pumpkin pie....PLEASE HELP IM STUMPED!!!!!

Make something with apples or with popcorn--we got popcorn from the Indians. They will be real antsy the last day before vacation. I suggest something fun and short--try one of Shel Silverstein's books--Where the Sidewalk Ends, A Light in the Attic, and I forget his newer poetry book. Pick some funny ones, and read them. If they get too antsy, then it is easy to stop at the end of that poem. Be sure to pick which ones you will read. Some are not as suitable. Also, they will be in a mood for the fun in his poetry. The library ought to have a copy of the books.

Well, I like Sheila's idea of reading Shel Silverstein. (He's a favorite children's author of mine.) Where the Side walk ends and A Light in the Attic are both large books of poetry. I would suggest The Giving Tree by Shel Silverstein. And maybe apples? Since they come from trees and fit with the fall/winter time.

Hello Suebot--- I am no expert BUT I have been growing clematis for many years. Plus my Mom and Dad grew them. Mom has two that Dad planted over 25 years ago before his sudden death and they are still blooming. It's a old time favorite-- Nellie Moser.-- How old were the clematis that you bought? 1 year, 2 year or 3 Year?--- I think I would keep them in the containers another year if they are 1 year olds and allow them to sit and grow.-- I have never had a Wisley but I do have the other one.--- The only thing about growing clematis with roses is the pruning. Thorns and clematis vining are hard to prune @ seperate Times.-- They are 2 great websites that I use for reference as well my clematis books that I bought while visiting the Clematis Society in England.-- the sites--- the one I just mentioned and the American Clematis Society that has headquarters in Calif.-- Did I ask all your questions?-- If not please just let me know.

John, Can't advise you on Stickley vs. Classic Leather but I think the salesperson you spoke with on the Marshall Unit was incorrect in describing it as a 'beach ball'. A Marshall Unit is used in conjunction with down cushions, and usually shows up on the option list terminology as a 'Spring Down" cushion. Here's how it works. If you had a pure down cushion, it would be soft and plush like a down pillow, but it would flatten out after sitting on it and require 'fluffing' all the time. People tired of doing this a long time ago, so the industry responded by developing the Marshall unit. This is a spring grid with a series of small individual springs each encased in its own sleeve and set up as a cushion insert. The area in and around the sleeves is filled with down and then wrapped in a Dacron casement. Voila! You have a down cushion that 'springs back' to about 90% of the level before it was sat upon. They're actually quite nice to sit upon, and considered highly desirable in most furniture. On leather hides, it does allow the leather to stretch more than a standard Qualex cushion so while comfortable you will see more hairline stress cracks due to the increased travel of the cushion insert. As for H&M, you know they run the gambit of prices. If you stay in the Town and Country sofas and hides offered, they can run $ 1,995 and up : most in the mid-$ 2K range. Recommendations for 2nd Grade Math book

I don't know about a textbook kind of thing, but we've tried some software that impressed me. Last summer my son, now finsihing up 3rd grade, used a CD from Learning Company called "Clue Finders 3rd grade." That series starts for 3rd grade. This is the same company that makes the Reader Rabbit series, up to 2nd grade it's part of Reader Rabbit series, 3rd and after it's the Clue Finder series. So, anyhow, you can find a math CD for your son's age in the Reader Rabbit series, or take a look at the Clue Finder series depending on your son's abilities. We actually ordered this CD through the school, after the teachers reviewed it and said yes, this really fits with our curriculum, it will help students prepare for the next grade and is very good stuff. I was impressed with the variety of math and reasoning skills the game used, it challenged my son, and he had a lot of fun playing it. Here is a link for the company. You are all great!! I was happy with the China Doll but once I kept looking at the divine white it really grew on me. I just texted the painter and said I had changed my mind and will go with Divine White. ( I figured he probably hadn't bought it and even if he did, paint is not much $ it's the labor!!) . He texted back and said no problem. SO Divine White it is. And thank you for holding my hand through this and Justerrilyn for suggesting it. About the grout and tile- I selected it in 1989 and we moved in (new construction) in 1990. At the time, it was my dream tile. I selected dark gray grout and liked it all until about 5 years ago when it suddenly aged in my eyes. The dark gray was wonderful though because it never discolored:). I see the merit of lightening it but not so sure I will do it----as it is throughout the entry, kitchen, and laundry room. Not sure of square footage but it's up there with yours. I appreciate the suggestion but just not sure if we will go for it. It's an exciting time and a bit overwhelming so I appreciate all the comments and suggestions.

Maybe popcorn balls with candy corns in them? Cranberry muffins? I remember borrowing a library book-it MIGHT have been called Thanksgiving at the Tappletons.

Craisins are pretty good. They're sweetened dried cranberries. I think they're marketed to be similar to raisins, but of course they are cranberries (but sweetened and palatable). Other dried fruits might go over well. Any or all could be added to muffins, or popcorn balls for that matter, and/or offered simply as dried fruit. Spice cookies or gingerbread pieces and a vanilla pudding dip might go over better than pumpkin pie or cranberry sauce. Also, cranberry juice cocktail can cover the cranberry theme (and that comes in all kinds of fruit flavours and now there's even a white cranberry juice type).

What kinds of fresh fruit are available in the stores now? If you can get some that appeals to children, pretty much any fresh fruit which is available can go with the general theme of eating and sharing what is at hand.
