Former stalker & Facebook Help, panicing!!!!

How do I block everyone with the same name as a former stalker from being able to view anything about my page? He stalked me for two years, during that time he blew-up abandoned structures in town, set another girl's house on fire, The cops arrested him for trying to blow-up our house..........

If you're trying to avoid a stalker, and a dangerous one at that, just shut down your Facebook page. Even if he is blocked. he'll find a way to get to your page.

Facebook isn't worth it if you think this person is dangerous.

Your friend still needs to be careful. Our daughter had an ex semi-boyfriend get crazy when he got more serious than she wanted to get. She got a restraining order. And things got quiet for about 2 weeks and then he came back with a vengeance. My God, the stuff he did AFTER THE RO was worse than what he had done before. Actually made an imprint of her house key through the lock (I didn't know you could do this)and had a duplicate key made. Bought an apparatus to get into a locked car, etc. Slashed 4 tires of her car. Went into her home, listened to her phone messages and called everyone on her phone list to threaten them if they befriended her over him. He even trashed the businesses her other dates worked at. The scary thing, among others, was that he was in the Coast Guard and was licensed to carry a gun. We hired a PI and did a background search on him. We learned he had done this in several states to other women and simply was transferred to other cities when he became a liability to the Coast Guard. He,too,was a real charmer but a real evil man. The PI followed him and had proof through phone records and pictures and fingerprints on the exterior of her car and in her car as well that he was violating the law. This was done over a period of 6 weeks and it cost us a fortune to have round the clock coverage of this man. But it also gave us protection for our daughter since investigators were right there should he have attempted to harm her. Well, we had proof but the police were dragging their heels. We got in contact with his commander on the base; met with her and he was permanently relieved of his duties. Then 2 weeks later, right after he called my daughter in the middle of the night, rambling and threatening, to explain it was all a misunderstanding, we left our home at 2:00 AM and drove all night to his home (crazy, I know) but we were desperate. We spoke to him and made him a firm offer he couldn't refuse. Well, what we said must have made an impression, because he packed his bags, left town and hasn't been seen there since. And that's been about 8 years ago. The police never did anything because the charmer explained it was simply a love affair gone wrong. Can you believe that?

I misunderstood the original post, because I saw Real Estate I guess...I will admit to looking things up out of curiousity but I was also raised that any discussion of money outside the family was really inappropriate. I have trouble even talking about getting paid at work, and once went almost 5 months without a paycheck in one office, because I didn't want to talk about it. I think a lot of people have given up their own privacy and it has dragged the rest of us into it. I assume there is a satellite that knows where I am at all times and all my other info is out there, and that this information is tracked and sold for various purposes. My tenants all tweet and so I have seen pictures of people mooning on the roof of my (rented out)house, pictures of one of them passed out on the stairs, and references to the "r@pe room" (basement, which is a little creepy); and the "sl_t shack" (meaning the house in general when one of the girls is alone for the weekend.) It's all that twenty-something Northeast crude boy/girl humour and behavior, but instead of it being between friends, it is between a large group of cyber friends and anyone else who uses google. I found the twitter trying to look up the proper spelling of one of the roomate's unusual last names, when I didn't have it on hand.

I agree 100% with Katlan. I highly recommend a book entitled "One Second After." In the last 30 years, I've read *ONE* fiction book, and this was it. It's well-written (written by a history professor), historically and militarily accurate, and it's a book you'll never ever forget. The book talks about what happens in Small Town America after an atomic weapon is detonated at about 20 miles above the earth's surface. There is no radiation, no fall out, no scary noise. There's just an EMP. An EMP (electro-magnetic pulse) puts the country into the dark ages. It's estimated that three atomic weapons, detonated at 20 miles up, would destroy all things electrical - cars, planes, radios, computers and our entire electrical grid. Three atomic weapons would cripple the continental United States. (BTW, this is why our military is so panicked about Iran and Korea developing atomic weapons.) The point of this thread is, you're not going to be able to go to the grocery store and stock up. You'll have to rely on yourself, period. In this country - today - we have "just in time" inventory. The mega-monster grocery store has adequate inventory for 48-72 hours. In other words, if distribution chain is disrupted, there are no reserves in the back room at the grocery store. There's a saying: "The most civilized society is only five meals away from anarchy." Our generation has not seen true social unrest in this country. If things do go really wrong, and there is a social upheaval, and the grocery store shelves are bare, you'll probably only need about 30-45 days worth of supplies (food and water and ammo) to survive. That's not a lot. If some sort of basic order has not been restored in 30-45 days (following some cataclysmic event), then it really is "TEOTWAWKI" (The End of the World As We Know It). History foretells the future. Mankind has been down this road before, but we've never had the incredibly advanced electronics systems (cell phones, computers in cars, etc) that we have now. The more advanced the infrastructure, the more delicate it becomes. "One Second After" by William R. Forstchen is a book you'll never forget. POV-point of view. OP never suggested surprising this guy by appearing on his doorstep; she just wants to let him know that bygones are bygones & that she wishes him well. I wouldn't have liked for my husband or boyfriend to talk about another woman as the 'love of his life', but that's hardly the woman's fault; it's entirely the doing of husband! & since he sent her packing when she showed up, my guess is that he either was remembering the past through rose-colored glasses, or he was playing a mind game with you. Mind games are never nice, & you definitely owe your life partner more respect than to play them. One good result here is that, if he ever again in this life starts reminiscing about the 'love of his life', you can fix him with a baleful stare & tell him to put a sock in it!

It is not only dangerous to you and your family, but anyone on your facebook.. Sorry, I agree with others. Did you get a restraining order? If not why not?

You can just block him. Go into your privacy controls. He'll probably be able to see you have a page but not any info on it.

I have my settings set that only friends can see. Otherwise they can get to maybe my name and that's it. Don't even put your picture as your profile pic, just put a flower or something miscellanious...but I agree with others, just get off of facebook, it's just not worth it.

I would recommend going to the cyberangels site and ask for help. That is what they do. I am very anti Facebook and if he is determined just blocking him won't stop him, hacking FB is so simple there are multiple sites listed on a Google search telling how to do it.

If you are afraid then you need to not be on Facebook. That is the first thing we do when a new woman enters our Help Center, both her's and the kid's. Not even under a phoney I.D. because chances are he knows the names of your friends and family. Bless your sweet heart.

You could just block him,,,but he would probably be back on with a dozen other screen names within an hour...

The smart thing to do is what was already mentioned,,close your facebook account,,,and GET A RESTRAINING ORDER

That's why I don't go on facebook. Not that the ex is stalking... but I don't want him to read what all goes on in my life.

Hope you take the others advice, and get off there.

Not my cup of tea either. I wonder in the next couple of decades if your "cute" pics of family might cause some members to be haunted by what you posted. That alone would be enough for me, for once it's OUT THERE, there's no way to erase it. I think it's also a playground for hackers to practice their tools of the trade. MHO only.

I think you're all right. The R.O. was made permanent when he was sentenced, but we all know a piece of paper filed in a Court House don't stop the action, it just gives the courts a history. Didn't think he would be loose so soon.

Take yourself out of the public search. Then he can look you up all he wants under any name and you won't show up. No one can see anything on your page unless you give them permission.

I just don't see what is so fantastic about facebook that would make me just have to have it if it promoted a person that's stalking me to be able to stalk easier! Seems just like a no brainer to me...GET THE HECK OFF FACEBOOK ALREADY! Problem solved!!!!!

I have my FB settings so that no one but Friends can see any info. Even then I wonder what happens when one of my comments shows on another person's Wall. If they have not made their page private, the whole world can see it. I am astounded by what people put out there.

I have begun to use FB as a sort of Newsfeed. I follow posts from sites that interest me, although I still can't resist commenting from time to time.

I also wonder about all the info on Gardenweb. It is totally public and everything we post is out there. Try Googling your user name and see what comes up. The internet has made privacy a thing of the past.

What rips me is the pictures, stories, etc., that
people take from someone else's page and put it on
their own. To open it up to Lord knows who, and how
many.

I have seen personal pictures on a message board, with the
comment..."saw this on Facebook"....etc.

Kids & Grands thought I should join Facebook -I finally did late one night. Next morning there were 56 people wanting to be-friend me. Took me about 2 minutes to cancel.

Have you ever Googled screen name used for this site?

I was just sitting here thinking about this ~ imagine sitting on a crowded bus, with your photo album tucked under your arm and suddenly you see somebody at the back of the bus you haven't seen for quite a while. You pass the photo album to them and tell them to shuffle through it to see what your family has been up to. Next thing you know, there's a crowd around your album pulling out pics that they want/like, and then off the bus they go.

I know I wouldn't feel comfortable with this situation, and I sort of feel the same about most of the "social" sites, even those that you don't post photos on. Like maybe some of the info you pass on is for family only.

Guess I shouldn't get on the computer so late at night. Gets my mind working too hard, LOL.
