Jody, I don't know what you can do to be sure the hair is gone but I do know how to help Lily not to shed like she does. Go to WalMart and get some Brewer's yeast for dogs it has garlic in them also. She will need to have one per 10 pounds of weight a day. I used these on McKenzie and believe me he shed alot. It was amazing how little he shed after using this for a couple of weeks. He would eat them like candy before his breakfast every day and beg for more. It also helps in keeping fleas away too.

Lil Lilly doesn't look like she has much hair! Mac the Chi is terrible with his shedding, he is cream and my furniture is reddish brown and it always is covered with cream hair!
Flamey told me once to use the cheapo rubber gloves, like a EMT uses to brush my furniture and all the hair ends up in a pile so you can pick up or vac it up. I wonder if it works on clothes? The only other thing I know of is to use about a gazillion of the sticky tape lint brushes! (It seems like thats what I use)then I still end up picking out some with my fingers! Make sure and use fabric softner in the wash and a dryer sheet in the dryer. I'd think some of it has to be static electricity maybe? I dunno Mac hair embeds itself into whatever he touches.
I think if he brushes Lilly it will help, but we just can't seem to get into a regular routine of it. Oh yeah while back there was a post on the Furminator for shedding dogs. I remember Pet Smart carried them. That might help.

Wet a sponge and swipe over the clothes a few times. It really helps. Then use the roller or some wide scotch tape wrapped around your hand, and pat the clothing where the hair is.

It always helped when I dried them in a dryer. Lint trap was full of hair everytime.

Nodaakgal, the reason Lilly doesn't look like she has much hair is because it's all over DS's clothes. LOL

I've got some rubber gloves around someplace, think I'll give that a try. And I added plenty of fabric softener to the wash and will put dryer sheets in once the wash is done. Thanks!

I've got tape lint removers and another type that uses a reverse knap to remove lint and is reusable. Neither work all that well for the clothes but work good on furniture.

Will try the wet sponge next Grammahony. Thanks for that tip!

I always use a dryer as we don't have a clothesline.

The gloves work well on things like sofas and chairs but for clothes I use packing tape. Those rollers are next to useless, at least for collie hair. IMO.

Make sure you only wash dog-hair stuff with other dog-hair stuff or it'll end up all over YOUR stuff, too, Jodi. And good luck, I feel your pain. I have dog and cat hair problems myself. I usually wear gray sweats or blue jeans, because those show the hair the least.

AND, make sure you relax, ain't no way you're getting totally rid of the porblem! lol you have a pet with hair, you have a home with hair! lol

No suggestions here, though I feel your pain. DH got me a pillow that reads, No outfit is complete without dog fur. LOL Peati is white and I wear her fur proudly, although I keep a lint roller in my car. I also vacuum every day.
I just love Lilly, if the pet hair is too much just send her here.

Is she half Chi? Chi's shed tons of hair for all the bigger they are! LOL!(I have 2)....Also,what are you feeding her? If they don't get the right vitamins,they shed more.We no longer feed table scraps because my dogs were ALL to fat.But since we quit,I've noticed their coats are nicer,shinier and don't seem to shed as much.We feed a food that comes in a roll,you just slice them off a piece.I forget the name of it,but we buy it at Pet Smart.

Duct tape.
With two border collies and a corgi in my house I have hair all over the place and duct take works the best. I keep rolls in all my vehicles so I can clean myself off too.

I also use the Furminator...an AMAZING grooming item.
Even as short haired as Holly it pulls the undergrowth from her coat.

A dyson pet vacuum helps a lot too.

When you wash the clothes use fabric softener in the washer and a sheet in the dry to release hair too.

I'm working on breeding navy blue dogs. Maybe that will help conceal the fact that we wear our dogs. LOL. I took up spinning and knitting because my Malamutes made my backyard look like an explosion in a mattress factory. Figured if they were finished with it, I'd make use of it and wear it as a hat next winter. VERY warm!! In fact one of my dog hair hats went on an expedition to Mt. Everest.

Believe it or not, it is possible to have an item of clothing knitted from your pet's hair.
I saw it on HGTV a few years ago.
You simply save all pet hair and send it to this lady (I think she is in Colorado) and she will wash and spin the hair into yarn and knit it into anything your heart desires. I'm not sure how many pounds of hair equals one skein but with my doggie crew I'd have enough for an entire knitted wardrobe in no time!
I thought, at the time, Tuffy would make a handsome sweater!

Our horses are shedding all over the place these days. My dh brushed Chic out today and it was a mess on the ground within a 7 foot circle around her. When I took her saddle off this after noon, a gust of wind blew so much hair off of her body that I had to hold my breath. Thank goodness she doesn't live in the house! :)
My dogs never shed but to get horse hair off my red fleece jacket I use tape, fluff dry in the dryer or vacuum it.
Don't wear any fleece would be a good idea.

I wonder if a big roll of that industrial gray tape would work to get some hair off his things?

I don't think that I'd want to try a hat made of chi hair - I'd be afraid that it would blow apart in a stiff wind.

MISSION ACCOMPLISHED!

Eight loads of laundry, over 40 shirts (mostly black), Several pairs of pants (also mostly black). Lost count of the pairs of socks (all black). Pajamas, underwear, and sweatshirts. Two sets of sheets, duvet covers, shams and blankets. Tons of fabric softener and dryer sheets, duct tape, shaking and folding. It's after 1am (nine hours later) and I'm finally done. well they will all be back soon enough. Anyone who has a dog will tell you, you just don't get away without dog hair around.

After I logged off last night I went to the laundry room for something and found one more load in the dryer!

We had a dog for 14 years. She passed away four years ago. She was a Cairn Terrier which we got because I have allergies and they are one breed (of many) that people with allergies often can tolerate because they don't shed like normal dogs. Lilly was a gift to my DS by his girlfriend who wasn't aware I had allergies so I'm coping as well as I can. I'm shocked that yesterday's cleaning jag didn't put my allergies over the edge.

Anyhow...time to get ready for work and I don't have a thing to wear ... but my son has tall piles waiting for him to put away. LOL
