I'd wouldn't take them out - it's a nightmare to remove individual tiles without damaging those around them. I tried to do that in my master bath shower - and ended up causing surrounding tiles to crack and had to redo the entire shower. :-(

What I'd do is find some small framed prints in a style you like - botanicals, french bar tender prints etc. and just use two way sponge tape on the backs and hang them on the backsplash and create a small wall grouping - maybe two print on either side of the stove. Align them so the print covers up your 4 tiles. In the center maybe a platter or large plate. You could even to a small shelf and put the platter with decorative oils.

If you like the tin, there are a lot of options available in tin squares (color/size/design) for hanging decor. You could just put some stick up tape on the backs and cover the flowers.

I think your kitchen looks great since you have the beautiful wood and the great red walls. To cover the flowers, the idea of a frame is great.
I know there is also paint for tiles. Never used it but I've heard of it. They also sell SS rolls that maybe you could just attach or the tiles. I don't know how hard this would be since you have the tile.
About hating the white on white, I think it would look great if you added a dark (furniture-like) island.

Or instead of prints in frames:
Hang decorative plates or larger single tiles w/ a decorative finish or design that does match your style.
Hang a series of decorative pot holders over the tiles using sticky velcro.
Miniture chalk boards attached w/ foam tape.
Frame your favorite recipes for easy use!
Attach cork squares and use for recipes, pics, postcards, etc.
Hang a series of trivets.

Whatever you put up... make it reversable so you can remove them when it comes time to re-sell.

I think you have gotten great ideas above. That 3m command hooks would work on your exsisting tile to hang decorative pretties.

I was in Home depot and saw these sheets of what looks like tin. They used it as a backsplash. It was very inexpensive. I thought it was a nice looking inexpensive solution for backsplashes.

Seems like it came in 4 different colorways.

My poor husband has had to take out accent tiles more than once. He just gets out his air hammer and they are out of there in no time.

My backsplash is solid white tiles, but I put a platter on the wall just for a little something.

Oooooh, I like all the ideas above --- hadn't thought of those.

I had saved some sites in my Favs for just this purpose.
The POs had rubber duckies tiles here and there in the front bathroom and I was just going to cover them up with tile decals.
That is, until we found there was a major leak behind the tub and the whole wall of tile ended up having to come out.

But these sites had given me lots of ways I was going to cover up those yellow duckies and blue water tiles.

I was even thinking about an 8-tile mural (some of these sites have mural decals) to cover the 'pond' tiles the duckies were waddling to.

I also think your kitchen looks great with the wall color. I would definitely try the black and white tile covers. I had no idea these existed, but for $15 it sure seems worth a try. I also thought the pic of the platter on the tiles was very attractive as well.
Sounds like some great possibilities for very little money and or risk.
