Oh! How maddening!! I thik the airline is totally responsible for the price of your cruise. After all, whose fault is it? Gripe and fuss until they're tired of listening to you and refund your money! I am so sorry. I know how exciting cruises are and I can't imagine your disappointment.

I am so sorry this happened to you. You have every right to be very angry. I hope you get all your money back. And they should give you some perks like a free upgrade,etc. Let us know how you make out.

Since this was the airlines fault and beyond your control, no way would I just let this one go. You need a refund in full. Kathy

The only trip experience I have to share is when my DH and I and our two kidlets were trying to catch a train to go to my parent's 50th wedding anniversary party.

Missed the train, had to go to the bus station and buy bus tickets; then call home for some one to meet us at the bus station, not the train station.

Oh, the reason why we missed the train? The 6 month old pooped his pants as we were leaving our house to go to the train station. :-(

Yeah, I know it doesn't compare. But on a sliding scale, it does really.

I thought you were going to tell us that your eye had gotten really bad and you had to cancel. Glad it wasn't that.

I guess the cruise line can say it wasn't their fault you "missed the boat", but for good PR, surely they will give you a refund, or a free pass for another cruise.

How awful, Glenda! I would be upset too. You had planned and looked forward to this cruise and it must be a big disappointment.

I hope you are able to get money refunded. It's just not fair that you be out all that money and lose it because of the airline.

Of course I'm sure glad they found out about the mechanical problem before you left the ground!!!

I am so sorry Glenda, if I had had to go through all that you did, I would have been a basket case and my b/p sky high. It's really rotten that your holiday was ruined, I can't even talk about it without getting riled up so will stop. Again I'm so sorry and hope you get all your refunds

I used to work in a travel agency. Glenda, where was the first Port of Call the ship would have made after it left Florida? I am really surprised the travel agent didn't offer to rebook a flight for you to that port so you could have boarded the ship there. I had done that a couple of times for my clients who had connection problems or missed their flight for some reason.

Did you have trip cancellation insurance and if not cruises companies sometimes will offer a partial reimbursement if not all.

It just sucks, doesn't it?? I knew the big day was today because its DD's 11th birthday. I hope you get all of your money back. I can't even begin to imagine your disappointment, anger, frustration, etc.

I know you are disappointed but I heard the Captain wasn't very good looking! LOL I have a customer that works for Carnival. Maybe she can get you a great deal, she calls me with them all the time. I'd be happy to call her for you Glenda.

So sorry you were forced to cancel your trip. I don't have any experience with cruises, but it seems like it's the airlines fault (and not an act of God like bad weather would be?)I hope you are able to get your money back!

My mom just got back from a cruise to South America and met a group of people. The airline lost their luggage for NINE days!! Cruise was 2 weeks or so. They ship let them do laundry each day. I think the airline gave them an "allowance" but my mom said the prices at the ship boutiques were outrageous ($100 for a top etc.), so most ended up wearing the same thing each day.

What a shame to have to suffer such a disappointment, Glenda.

Too bad you hadn't planned an earlier flight, in case of such misfortune.

Or,as someone suggested, been able to catch the cruise ship at the next port (but that might not have been in the U.S., so would require over-water flight.

Good wishes and hopes for the coming days - I hope that you can find something memorable to do this week, to set a beautiful memory in place.

I'm so sorry Glenda. I know you were sooo looking forward to this trip. Yes there are worse things that can happen to one but it is still a huge disappointment. It would have been nice for the airline to work with you and try to get you to another port of call to meet the ship.

This is something my friends who cruise a lot have told me. They always book a room where the ship is departing and fly in a day early. They say it is worth the cost of a night's stay for the peace of mind of having themselves and their luggage ready to board. Hindsight is golden of course but I thought it a good piece of advice for the future.

I'm so sorry to hear about your experience...but look on the bright side...you still have your health,you're still a beautiful lady,and most of all you have all our shoulders to cry on.
I believe that everything happens for a reason,and in the big plan theres a reason you missed this cruise.

I hear people say all the time...I love to fly....haha well what is it that you love about flying..The crowded airport, small seats, cancelled flights, rude attendants, little or no service from all involved? Traveling has gotten to be such a pain...

But I have to tell you, thanks for cheering on Carnival, K and I had a GREAT time! We loved the ship, the food, and the games (the Carnival Colors game) that they got the passengers involved in.
Thanks for recommending Carnival, we will sail on them again in the future!

The first port of call is Colon, Panama, and it is tomorrow, the 9th. Already missed 3 days, etc, etc, so NOPE!

How awful, Glenda! After seeing all your yummy fruit, I had to find the cruise thread and see what went awry! Maybe you'll have "double the fun" on your next trip. I'm so sorry this one didn't work out... :-(

Oh doggone it! Sorry you missed it.
We, DH and I got home last week from our first cruise, 5 days on Carnival Inspiration. I must say, I did enjoy myself. BUT, my DH, who is NOT a people person, Just kept walking around saying to himself, me our friends, "Worst cruise ever!" He is such a party poop. I just went ahead and enjoyed myself, joined in a lot of activities, and really had a good time. It was on the 4th day that someone told him I was on stage and they were showing it on the tv. He finally caught it just before we debarked.
On the cruise we did hear the sad stories of how air flights are cancelled and everyone said you must plan on flying the day before your cruise to make sure that doesn't happen.
