I had a hard time catching it still enough to take a picture.

Thanks jean and comettose.........the feathers are a good idea. I have some of those little stained glass charm things on the window, but it must not have been enough. One year it was so bad, I just kept my drapes closed, which seemed to help. Right now, outside my bathroom window, I have a huge spider in a beautiful web that I'm watching. Its so totally amazing how perfect they can make their webs.

Thank you so much. If I am interpreting this correctly, the Wood Thrush would have the rufous coloring all over the back, and not just on the tail. Is this how you ID'd it as a Hermit Thrush?

Thanks. It was in a tree next to the house (we have a red house which explains the red look to its feathers- red reflection) . The bird was fussing at a cat and I tried to get the picture. Since I really need a view finder and an LCD screen as big as a monitor to see anything , I just pointed and snapped. This was a lucky shot out of about 10.
