Another Blessed Thanksgiving (pic heavy!)

We had a beautiful Thanksgiving!

All but one daughter present (she is a caregiver and was on call and ended up working).

We had a very light breakfast:

Then got to work making THE MEAL. Everything comes together about 2pm.

The crowd is in place. Mom and DD#1 took turns taking photos so theyÂd both be in one!

This one has DH, me, mom, Son-in-law, DD#3, son.

Same here except DD#1 at the end!

After dinner, DH decided to build a fireÂÂ.and didnÂt know I was behind him!

Things are winding downÂ..full tummies, warm fire (note the time on the wall clockÂ.)

ThatÂs Porter, the grand-pup! He had a big olÂ bone of his own for Thanksgiving and wore himself out chewing on it.

The turkey was awesome! That's what I get for listening to all of you! I ended up pre-salting rather than brining (mostly for the simplicity, I've got room for a bucket of brine in an extra fridge). It was actually a tiny bit pink still near the bone, but we sliced more than enough for dinner and popped the rest back in the oven.

What a great month it has been...Thanks Melinda for hosting this month. Maryanne-If you check in just a reminder that you are the host for December. I will try and remember to send you a message on facebook. Another day to spend with family tomorrow. DH's family has a get together the Saturday after Thanksgiving so it's tomorrow. His family is so huge we rent a school house so the kids can have the gym to play in. Of course us adults have to play to so we always have a volleyball game after lunch. Mellen-I actually went to Wal-Mart last night and stood in line for a fabulous sheet sale. If it's one thing I like it's good sheets and these were 700 thread count for $24.96. DH and I were the second ones in line so we got 7 sets. Some I got for family members, there was no limit. Shirley

Jeanne, I really look forward to seeing dollbaby each season in her new attire. That little hat you made is so darn cute on her--what a talented lady you are. What amazes me most is that you always have just the perfect little dish or cup and some kind of little "toy" additon for her. How wonderful that you still have your little shoes and they work on dollbaby! Just so cute and too much fun. ;o) Your buffet decor with the turkey and wire cloche, your elegant looking pumpkin, the lighted branches and all your wonderful little birds just add such a nice warm homey feeling to your decor. Jeanne, all of your fall decor is wonderful. I'm always ready to see your Jewel Tea 'Autumn Leaf' Hall China collection. You have so many neat pieces. I sure wish the set I found this summer would of been priced more reasonable and I would of brought it home.LOL The 'countertop island' is so prety all decorated and lit up. Is that a decorative bread loaf pan? Love that the napkins look like they belong to your Jewel Tea china. Isn't it fun to have more turkeys, acorns, candles and Stuff to play with now? I think back and my decor was pretty lame years ago but I still loved it.haha Thanks for sharing. Punk

Thank you Teresa. Winging it is not a big deal, since I don't follow recipes very well normally. Not that I am any good, just lacking patience. :-). That is a wild maple started from a flown in helicopter seed. Maple seeds leaves are edible, not just the sap. Thanks Clare and Silvia. The scallops were dry scallops. Normally $19.00 a lb. It was on sale for $13.99 a lb. Amazing sous vided at 120F, seared and coated with bacon powder. I had a few other dishes. Vegetables, bread and fried bananas. No stuffing. Thanks trailrunner. Storm Sandy was terrible for many people, but Thanksgiving is a time for people to count their blessings. Thanks Ann_t. I had nothing to do with the perfectly done turkey. Modern electronics assured me that the entire bird was cooked at exactly at 150F, +- one degree, inside and outside. I did cheat. I gave it a one minute instant browning with a hot soy sauce braise. What's the difference, few people eat the skin anyway. Thanks Annie. Yeah, My guests insisted to go shopping with me so they could pay for the meal. They ended up picking up all kinds of meats. The supermarket we went to had both fresh and frozen turkeys, all big ones. I am not sure where did the other two friends shopped for their turkeys. Miisa69, thanks for viewing my post. If I ever need to source D-sauce, then I may click on your link. Not sooner. Thanks jasdip, Cathy. It was a challenge for sure to have to deal with unplanned ingredients. Those are lovely Thanksgiving photos Deanna! You have such a good looking family. I can imagine how sleepy everyone feels after all that good food.

What a nice gathering, and the food looks lovely. Where's the dessert, am I missing it?

By the way, I have the same floor lamp you have in your living room in my bedroom. The first speed is already broken (flickers, even with new bulb)!

You don't look like I imagined! People never do, but as always nice to put a face with a name!

Great looking food, table, and family Deanna! Sorry to hear that one of your DD ended up working though. I lol at the pick of you behind DH. That after TG dinner nap is one of the best ever throughout the year.

Deanna, I have the small version of that corningware casserole, the one with the blue cornflower design!

I also had to smile at Porter, that's exactly what Elery's dog was doing after dinner, sleeping on Elery's chest. We didn't have the foresight to have others take pictures so we'd both be in one, though, good thinking.

Desserts were later (forgot to take pics).
We had a pumpkin cheesecake, Black & Blue Pie, Strawberry Rhubarb Pie, ice cream(s) and whipped cream available.

Bobbie, that lamp is a joke! The "shade" cracked after just a few weeks of use. I guess it's true, you get what you pay for! Those were Mall-Wart specials! LOL

Annie, I've got several of the Corning casseroles, as well as the old percolator coffee pot! My dad always made coffee in his. He didn't like 'brewed' coffee. I have mine only for use during power outages since it can sit on the woodstove!

I love Corning stuff. And, my kitchen is shades of blues (denim-ish shades) so the cornflower design works well!

Yes.........on to Christmas!!

LOL, Deanna, I have one of those old corningware coffee pots too, to be used on my gas camping stove during power outages!

I did think about cropping my daughter's toes out of that one with SIL and Pug!
