As you know all too well, Marilyn, loving animals means dealing with wildly frustrating, infuriating, and/or heartbreaking situations at times. This one is an example of all three. So sorry you have had to go through this, and I wish it had a better outcome. Here at the KT, though, Piggy Sue will always have her fans.

They didn't even want to "see" all the information you had and they said no feral pig could weigh that much? Little do they know or even care. Oh, this angers me no end. Time to bring in the media, Marilyn.....tv, newspapers, etc. whatever is needed to expose that no good, %$. Maybe a lawyer would be willing to take on the case of this theft.

Marilyn, my hubby just said, that DA is elected and the next time there is an election, be sure to vote "against" him. Ivan also suggested putting up posters around town. He agrees with me, that the media should be contacted.

They said they couldn't do anything because she was a feral hog. I said she wasn't feral. I had her five years and had her spayed. I showed him a picture of her sleeping under a blanket...I said, "Does that look feral?" I told him no feral hogs weigh 510 lb. I said, "does this mean that if his horse gets out and comes to my place again, I can haul him off and sell him?" They said no because horses are different than pigs....Piggy Sue looks like a feral and he can say he didn't know the difference. He did know the difference....I had talked to him about her several times, including one time when I had to have him come over to help me about five seconds with one of my horses. She stepped on something, and I have bad hands, and I couldn't pull it out. I couldn't find anyone else, so went to his house and said, "I will give you $20 to help me for ten seconds." He did and I paid him. Piggy Sue was there and I told him, don't ever touch her....she is my pet. He said he wouldn't. Another time he was driving a golf cart down the road and I was walking one of my donkeys and he stopped and talked to me. Every time I ever talked to him, I told him not to ever touch Piggy Sue. I was nothing but kind to him, He was always a smart mouthed kid and one time I told him to stop driving his ATV on my land, and he told me...."that land doesn't belong to you." It did....and he did leave. After he grew up, he apologized to me for being such a smart ***. I was always nice to him after that. Now he is a drunk and smokes crack...so he won't last long. I get a little satisfaction knowing he will never mount to a hill of beans. No one to blame but himself.

I am so sorry, my heart is heavy and I'm crying so hard for both of you.

There's nothing bad enough that could happen to that creep. And your DA? What a waste of space. I agree, contact the media. Have your photos, videos, stories, fan club and info all ready for them. It seems that anymore the "good guys" have all the cards stacked against them.

I know this wont' help at all, but I am so very sad and sorry and heartbroken about your dear Piggy Sue.

Feral hogs are so hated in Texas...I think that has a lot to do with it...and it doesn't matter that she was spayed and was a big, sweet pet. When I left, I gave him the dvd with two 30 second videos on it. I asked him to please watch it. He said he would. Then he will see how tame she was and how sweet she was. I told him about the time she got a dog food can hung on her lower jaw....her teeth sticking through the can. I told her to lay down and she let me get the tin snips and cut it off. She cried the whole time because it was so painful, but she knew I was going to help her, and she let me. I think that is probably the reason I feel so sad about this. I couldn't help her.

This makes me SO mad. All I can say is what goes around comes around and that jerk will get his just deserts one day soon.

It sounds like the DA's office is staffed with people who just don't care. To them, a pig is a creature you kill and eat, case closed. They probably can't even grasp the fact Piggy Sue was a beloved pet. I agree with those who suggested going to the newspaper/local media They might consider this a great human interest story. At worst, they'll turn you down. At best, you might help people see pigs in a completely different, positive light.

I'd like to add my voice to the others in suggesting you go to the media. Especially since you have cute pictures and videos. By the bye, having had her spayed means that she is on-record as not being feral. Who would spay a feral pig??

I think this would make a great human interest story to either the print media or TV. You have pictures and video which will sell the story like it did to all of us who fell in love with Piggy Sue.

Marilyn, I am so sorry about this, I wish the outcome had been different. I agree with suggestions of media exposure - it might possibly make a difference. At the very least, you would be letting people see what a wonderful animal Piggy Sue was and why you loved her.

A case near here.
A friend free leased her gentle horse to a little girl and it went to a boarding stable. She thought all was well, but went along with the horse dentist to visit another patient and stopped in to see him. Good thing she did because he was about starved.
The vet said he was about a 3 on the weight scale. The stable owner came up with all kind of excuses - horse had bad teeth, was old etc. She took her horse back and he looks great.
Other horses weren't so lucky because 2 had died recently before he was removed.
The animal warden was called and didn't show up for a while and the case was thrown out because the warden didn't see the horse right away - even though he was repeatedly called.
The judge didn't want to see the paperwork or the testimony of the vet.
There is no justice for animals...
I heard yesterday the warden is gone now - a bit too late.
I hope you get your revenge, but be careful...

I'm sorry. He's a worthless POS and hopefully his cracked up self won't live much longer.

As for a spayed animal not being feral ... most don't carry a sign around their neck, testifying to their having been spayed, thus in no way to be considered anywhere in the neighbourhood of feral.

As for what goes around ... usually coming around: sometimes it does ... sometimes not. It's not too wise for one to hold one's breath ... waiting.

Please take all of your information and go to the media. It seems to me that you have plenty of evidence to support that PS was your pet and not feral. I don't know much about feral hogs, but aren't they small, mean, and very wiley and difficult to catch?

Marilyn - I am so sorry. What a horrific thing to happen to Piggy Sue, and to you! Yep, karma is a b*tch.

A friend of mine has a pig. Her name is Roxy but I call her Pork Chop. She doesn't seem offended by that. She has been known to open the frig a time or two. One time she pulled out a ham, but didn't eat it. I'm so glad she didn't. That gives me the heebie jeebies!
She has had to be put on a diet, strict pig feed because she was gaining so much weight that the Vet said she would have to have eye surgery. The fat was beginning to cover her eyes, or something along those lines. I think she has fallen off the wagon, though.

So, knowing Roxy, I understand how personable and sweet Piggy Sue was and how much you love and miss her.
