Brenda55...but I didn't get a picture of us!

Brenda and her DH were in town last night so Brenda and I got together at my home for a glass or two of wine. We visited a couple of hours and it felt like we were friends forever. I really enjoyed my visit with her.

She did bring a surcie for me to enjoy! A silicon bottle top baster, some water crackers from Australia and Christmas coasters. How did you know that I threw out my old tattered Christmas coasters last year? All came wrapped in a beautiful flower bag that Aleksi wondered if I would like. I love the flower on the bag Aleksi. Thank you Brenda, I love it all.

Brenda it was a joy to meet you.

Finally, I'm back! After I had dinner with Nancy and Kim we went to Ohio to visit Elery's Dad. Elery just left this morning and I came back to work. First, I have to say that Nancy and Kim are perfect, wonderful, gracious hostesses. Oh, and Roxie makes the perfect "greeter". (grin) Elery really enjoyed meeting both Nancy and Kim, and had a very nice chat with Kim about making wine and fishing in Lake Erie while Nancy and I were discussing cooking, the forum, the upcoming November get together in Tennessee and, well, everything! And no, Kathy, Elery doesn't think these get-togethers are weird, although he still smiles when we start taking pictures of the food, LOL. The croissants were to die for, they were so good. The wine jelly was really good but the croissants didn't need one darned thing. Elery ate two, and he never does that, although he loves bread of any type. The lake perch, well, it's my absolute favorite food, bar none, and this was fresh and perfectly cooked by Nancy. I don't need tartar sauce or lemon or anything else, just the perch! The risotto was very good, done in the oven and so were the snap peas. The pumpkin strudel, though, that was exceptional and thank you, Nancy, for posting that recipe. Elery doesn't eat dessert, but he sure liked that one and said it was a lot easier than the pumpkin cheesecake he usually makes for Thanksgiving. I think that strudel is going to make an appearance at his family holidays this year. We sat around, ate, gossiped, talked, drank, ate some more. When Elery finally interrupted Nancy and I, talking over coffee, it was nearly 10:30 and we'd spent 5 hours with Nancy and Kim. The time just flew by. The food was great, of course, but the company was the best part. And yes, Sherry, that jacket does fit perfectly, doesn't it? LOL It was a gift from Sherry at the Michigan Run! As usual, the photos are blocked because I'm at work and their firewall doesn't allow anything from photobucket, but I'll check them at home. I'm trusting Nancy not to post any pictures that looked bad. (grin) Thank you Jessica and Diana, for the compliments. I gotta stay in shape, you know, if I'm gonna come to California in February and wear all those summer clothes! I'm really looking forward to seeing Jessica again and to meeting Diana. Elery thinks this is great fun, and since he loves to cook, he feels pretty much at home in the conversations and likes the idea that I have friends all over the world. Annie

Gotta love those Martins! Last year, we put our houses up late. This year, we went with gourds and put them up 2 weeks after the first scouts arrived. We have numerous second and after second year Martins all over the place! They do constant battle with the starlings but seem to have taken over all 12 gourds. I love me some birds! Two days ago, I saw a Bald Eagle fishing in the lake across from my house. Later that afternoon, there was a osprey hanging around the like (osprey generally don't hang out in west TN). It's a wonderful spring, so far.....but we're expecting some strong storms this weekend so we'll be watching the PM flock carefully.

If a certain amount for the appraisal wasn't a contingency, under what circumstances could you walk away from the buy without losing your earnest money? Inspection? I'm afraid, but It doesn't sound to me like you have any justification to ask for a lowering of the price. In my area, which right now is booming, appraisals come in lower than sales prices all the time because appraisers are super careful and haven't caught up yet. In fact, it could well be that the house has already increased in value since your offer was accepted. Think of it this way: It would be like the seller asking you to pay more because there may now be a back-up buyer who actually would offer more than what you paid. You obviously wouldn't agree to that either. Or if the appraisal had come in higher than agreed-upon purchase price, you wouldn't pay more, either. As you say, you like the new house, and in the scheme of things, it doesn't really matter too much. I'm just curious why your realtor thought "it was worth a try."

We've spent a really enjoyable couple (about 4) hours together. Taking off for Regina now, via Minot. Looking forward to meeting daughter, who flew up Wed. night, and brother and sister-in-law. Love those coasters!!!! Really love them!!!...Really Really REALLY do!
I thought I had everything Christmas I needed and more besides....( I mean who has a Christmas Toilet plunger besides me?)..But I don't have Christmas coasters!
And it was really nice that Brenda visited.....especially since she brought you those coasters!

In that sort of hide-away closet off the 2nd landing on the stairs...near the upstairs bathroom.....it's not for "non family" view.

The coasters are Fitz and Floyd if anyone wants to try to find them...I'm so lucky to have CF friends that like the same things I do:-)

I love those coasters! It's nice to meet up with friends, I enjoy reading about these visits. You guys are sooo lucky!! I should check with DH if he'd like to move to the US!

I'm glad you got to meet up! I'm always happy (and a little jealous) to hear about CF gatherings :o) Bottle baster seems very practical.

Linda, do show pics of the Christmas plunger. I didn't even know someone would have created such a thing.

I was very fortunate to meet Karen and her DH this weekend. Karen and I shared some great conversation and some excellent wine and it was perfect.

Linda, I can only hope Karen likes the coasters as much as you...lol. You might try Dillards :)

Thanks again for the hospitality, Karen and I will look forward to meeting up again....now, I have 2 reasons to go to Lake Charles...lol.

I think we will have to get Maggie and Aleksi together sometime, too!
