What's the best way to seal cookies for the freezer?

Other than a food saver. Becuase I don't have one. I am finding that just Tupperware might give a freezer taste after several weeks. I wondering if there are some tricks of the cookie trade that I'm missing out on.

Otherwise I was thinking freezer Ziploc bags inside a Tupperware container.

I stack and wrap with saran....then foil and put all into a zip lock....but if I think they may get "beat around" I put them into a tupper rather than a zip lock bag.
The clue is to wrap close and wrap air tight.

I've been using quite a lot of good old fashioned waxed paper, wrapping bread, cookies, crepes etc. with it and then into the zip lock bag. I find wax paper "soaks" up any moisture protecting the food from sogginess. Also I insert a straw partway into the ziplock, and suck all of the air out, making my own air free food saver.

I'd like to know where you ended up with this. I live in RI and have the same problem. Bought and old house years ago, now have kids, and of course now radon is testing high. First thing I did was buy a radon monitor. It's called the "Corentium Digital Radon Gas Monitor". You can buy it online for $245. I've had mine for 6 weeks and has told me a lot about the radon levels in my house. Craziest thing is that radon levels fluctuate day to day and can vary a couple of points so the 2-day tests are in my view, worthless. Also radon levels vary seasonally. The best radon test is an average over a year, with a minimum reading of a week. What's great about a continuous monitor is that you can tell hourly if the radon levels drop because of your mitigation. FYI opening windows does work for about a day then they go right back up again; great for summer, chilly in winter. My basement is mostly old poured concrete (more like a rat slab) and I have some open dirt sections. My plan this summer is to take up the old slab and install a proper radon pipe grid, cover with gravel, then poly, then top with new concrete. That should give me a better, drier, basement and also eliminate radon from the slab. I'll pipe it for a passive system and if it doesn't work I'll add the fan. It's unlikely that you or I have a decent layer of gravel under the old basement slab so any point suction mitigation won't work. that works in newer foundations that have the gravel but not the piping. The second thing is a perimeter drain. This will relieve the pressure against the outside wall and vent the water and radon gas to daylight. Radon gets sucked through the rubble walls by stack-effect so I plan to put a layer of poly against the foundation to act as a vapor barrier, then a perimeter drain product by Eljen. I think you may need to follow these steps: Step 1: Wipe the drywall with a damp sponge to remove any dust left from sanding the joint compound smooth. Step 2:Paint the corners and edges of the wall and around masked objects with latex primer paint, using a 3-inch nylon bristle brush with a tapered end. Step 3: Put primer in a paint pan and spread it with a roller with a 3/8-inch nap cover. Work from the top down and roll in both diagonal and vertical motions to even the paint coating over the wall. Looks like large pavers. We live in wet winter country - PNW so moss etc is a routine thing here. We use the product Wet and Forget on our smaller pavers which works on moss & grime pretty well. Not all moss is green - it’s black mold looking too. Wet & Forget comes in concentrate or a sprayer container. Needs to be put down when pavers are dry & be able to stay wet for @ hour - so no spraying in sun or heat. Rain comes & washes black away & moss dies so it’s not immediate result but is seen working after the first rain. Not sure how successful this would be in less rainy climate. We buy it at Costco - product is popular here. We did pressure wash our pavers once using a round attachment that gives a much softer wash than the angled hard spray of the angled spray point of pressure washing. We were afraid the pressure washer would lift all the sand filler between the paver joints. ETA: we’ve never sealed our pavers but it is done by some. Need to clean first & I think it’s not permanent so must be redone every few years.

I use wax paper inside cookie tins. They seem to work the best for me.

I use the metallic platinum rectangular tins at the link in a large size for cookies and in a smaller size for candy.

Thank you for your ideas. These are all very helpful to me.
Carol, why do you use those tins? Is it just for storage or are they gifts? Do you think a plastic food container -glade ware etc. does as good of a job? I have lots of tins but I haven't been using them in the freezer.

I can see incorporating all these ideas depending on the cookie shape: wrapping in plastic wrap and aluminum foil, straw in the freezer bag, lots of waxed paper.

I do like Deborah and use a straw to suck the air out of the ziplocks and have had very good luck doing it that way.

I don't have any "scientific" reason for the tins. I used to use Tupperware and Rubbermaid. But I started using tins after a conversation some years ago with the owner of House on the Hill about springerle and speculaas. She was convinced tins result in a better flavor for those traditional cookies, whether stored at room temp or in the freezer.

I do have to say I like tins better, especially for delicate and iced cookes, but I still use the plastic when I've run out of the tins.

Practically speaking, there's no transfer of flavor and no moisture. They're square, so they store nicely on the shelf and in the freezer. But you know, I think a lot of these things are just personal preference (or maybe a quirk).

I don't "gift" in these tins. I tend to use boxes with cellophane windows or plain flat boxes (like shirt boxes) for gifting. And plates of course, with colored or printed cellophane wrap and ribbons. The standards.
