I think you're asking about the porch ceiling, not the roof, yes? I'd personally prefer stained wood. However, painting the ceiling to match your other white trim would be lovely. And in your case might better match the overall style of your exterior.

Love it! Looks great. I know what you mean about the black surface. I love how it looks but I once stayed in a condo with black counter tops and I knew I wouldn't be able to handle it. I did put them in my laundry room and LOVE them there since I don't spend as much time working over them. I had Corian before the granite and I loved how it felt so soft and smooth and was basically worry free. I do love my granite too, but that soft feel of the Corian is so nice. Enjoy your new kitchen! Good luck with the paint. It's so hard getting paint right on the first try and it seems to change throughout the day too. I never seem to get it on the first try and sometimes not on the second. Jon - I see what you mean... those have obviously been there quite a while. Mine are pruned/limbed up like trees and create more of a true canopy. I just finally got all my hostas planted, and under the redbuds I ran into a few roots, but it wasn't bad. My trees are only a few years old though. We'll see how they do. NHL - Maybe it's a place that would be better for just some sun-loving shrubs....?

We did look at Fernwood green but we decided it was a little too "apple green" for us. But we did consider it! The rest of the house that we redid so far is pale yellow, pale blue, light grey, and light grey/beige/greige.
