Cooking a ham in a slow cooker?

I just learned today we're going to have an even larger crowd on Thanksgiving Day than what I had thought -- a son is bringing a friend home from school, and we'll also have more children this year than before. So, I realize I'm going to have to cook more food, in more dishes/pots/pans.

I'll have so many dishes cooking in the oven, I wonder if I should cook the ham in a slow cooker? Has anyone done this?

I feel foolish even asking. I figure just about anything can be cooked in a slow cooker.

But I haven't been to any recipe sites yet. Sometimes online recipes get good reviews, sometimes not. Sometimes recipes appeal to me, sometimes they just don't.

So I thought I'd ask all you experts here: Is slow cooking a good way to cook a ham? (It would be a cured ham, not fresh.) If so, I'd love to hear your tips. TIA!
