Anyone get a shut down notice from Amazon?

Just curious, while researching a problem on the Computer forum, several have complained that they are no longer allowed to use Amazon.com for various reasons. too many returns, complain of poor materials, expensive postage--since I have never used Amazon. com, not sure what they are talking about.

I've never had a problem with them. I sent something to my grandaughter last week, chose the 7 day free shipping, it took 2 days!

Yikes--I wonder if it's spam? I have an Amazon credit card and buy from them all the time. Of course, I've had maybe two returns in all these years, and only one complaint of poor packaging (which they fixed). I don't know who would complain of expensive postage; most items ship for free with a $25 order.

I also sell on Amazon, and adhere to the limits Amazon sets on shipping charges. Sometimes this means I lose a little money on the shipping. So I'm certain Amazon buyers are not getting ripped off on shipping.

I've rooted leaves in mix, that can take around a year. I've recently water rooted a stem, but didn't make note of the date I put it up. I took these pix, 'cause they show the round tuber AND the roots the plant develops. I really don't remember how long it took, but am guessing 9 months maybe, like from last Fall (I think I had accidentally broken the stem off the parent plant). and and So if you can grow some serious patience, you might end up w/ something like this. I rooted some cuttings in water and some leaves in soil but it did take more than 6 months. I now have a lovely little plant about 4" tall. This summer was the first year for my 8x16 greenhouse. It has double dutch doors on both ends, and two roof vents. I didn't plan to use it in the summer, but I had extra plants, so I blocked off one set of doors with some wire racks and put larger potted pepper plants right next to the open doors in hopes of a cooler breeze. They did ok, though I had to keep on top of watering them because they dried out very fast in the heat. Even with the doors and vents open, it still gets very hot. I plan to get some kind of shade cloth next summer. How do most growers attach their shadecloth on the outside? Straps? Bungee cords?

right you can only have one antivirus program on the pc at one time, you can have multiples of the malware programs that you run the scans manually with they are not running all the time so would not conflict. here are my instructions (I now just keep them in a document) McAfee removal directions these are the full directions for Mcafee removal, I used this exact procedure and it went well and have since shared it with others for their removal. be sure you use the mcafee removal tool after you have removed it from add remove programs or much will be left behind. First turn off Mcafee at the icon in the systray. I had to go into msconfig and turn off all mcafee items from startup prior to trying to uninstall, just turning them off did not work it would say the program was still running. So if you run into this when going to add remove programs try doing that. I then removed everything using add remove programs, leaving Security center till last. Then used the removal tool, after that I went to Program Files and deleted all mcafee files. Also set Windows explorer to show all hidden files and folders and deleted the mcafee folders. I found these instructions on how to do this on the mcafee forums. 1. Uninstall all mcafee programs through "Add or Remove Programs" in Windows "Control Panel". 2. Use the MCPR tool, see this article: How to remove supported mcafee consumer products using the mcafee Consumer Products removal tool (MCPR.exe). This will remove all mcafee remnants from your computer. (you must have Windows Vista, XP or 2000 SP4 to use this tool) 3. Launch Windows Explorer and delete all mcafee files in "Program Files" but especially in "C:\Document and Settings\\Application Data" and "C:\Document and Settings\All Users\Application Data". You have to set Windows Explorer to show all hidden files and folders (Tools > Folder Options > View tab). Just delete the mcafee folders even if they are empty in all the "Application Data" folders. Can be more than one! In Vista: C:\Program Files, C:\ProgramData and C:\Users\yourname\AppData\Roaming Removal tool (MCPR.exe) http://download.mcafee.com/products/licensed/cust_support_patches/MCPR.exe or from here McAfee Consumer Product Removal Tool 3.0.128.8

last week we had a lot of rain, every day. ==>>> IF they are shutting down.. it didnt happen in the last week ... hard to give suggestions.. without a pic ... i recall you made your own drip hose ..... im wondering if its not providing the water.. you think it was??? there is something called summer dormancy due to heavy drought ... but they reflush once out of the drought ... imo ... it might not be great to reflush .. using stored energy.. in early fall ... if it is some form of drought.. make sure they are well watered.. deep into fall .. nothing is worse.. than a plant going thru winter.. already water starved ... obviously you dont need a lot of water in fall.. with cool days .. and cold nights ... but some time in nov.. just check to make sure the soil is not bone dry ... thru the root zone ... ken

I've not paid for shipping on Amazon for years - I wait until I have 25 worth of items and then order - if it's not an immediate need. I'm not sure what they could be talking about either - have had very good experiences with Amazon

Yes, just good experiences with Amazon, too. I've been getting my computer ink there as there are some comparatively good deals. I even bought my lawn mower through Amazon!

My DH always says if I stop ordering from Amazon, they'll go belly-up.....I probably get at least one order a week...never pay shipping since I'm a "Prime" member.

It seems that no matter what I'm looking for and not finding... FINALLY a lightbulb goes off in my head and I think..."Amazon!" and more likely than not, I can find it there and at a cheaper price than I would have paid locally. I thnk I read this week where they shut down a shipping operation in Texas because the Texas legislature was going to make them collect sales tax on orders shipped out of there. I was not happy to see the loss of 300+ jobs.

We buy from Amazon at least once a week. No problems at all, and even the free shipping is usually only 2-3 days.

I don't buy from them too often, maybe 2 or 3 times a year. You made me go over to check out my account, and all is fine. I am now, however, thismuch closer to ordering a Kindle for myself. Bought one for my son for Christmas and now I want one...

I know that Amazon and Overstock will no longer sell in certain states (Illinois is one) because those states are making them charge sales tax. So that might be what's going on.

Never any problems with Amazon and no shut down notice either. I just ordered the steam mop from them and am waiting for it now. As usual, shipping is free!

Sleeperblues, you may have misunderstood the issue. Amazon and Overstock are still selling to the good people of Illinois, but they are cutting ties with the affiliates here. I've linked to an article that explains it better than I ever could.

the issue that we were discussing over there was that Amazon has a practice of banning customers, some for very minor issues, another forum I am on there were a few people there that it happened to, they posted copies of the email from amazon and the reason for banning, both were due to having returned items, one gal had been shopping there for many years and had in all that time only returned a couple of items in the under $50 range, when they began searching google they found many many with the same thing happening to them. Amazon not only banned them from purchasing on amazon but those that had bought Kindle's from them found that their library was locked down and they were no longer able to access the books which they had bought and paid for. Plus they were cut off from customer support for their Kindle and could not buy books any longer which pretty much made their kindle useless.
The thing I thought was very wrong in the equation was blocking them from the books which they had already paid for and owned.
I had never ever heard of this from Amazon either and was surprised till I did a google search.
On the cases where someone is trying to do wrong and a con job by buying and returning big ticket items I can see them doing something but these were just regular people doing regular ordering and were given no warning at all simply banned and were not even allowed to contact them.
It almost made me wonder if there was some disgruntled Amazon employees doing it to cause Amazon problems. Apparently the website consumerist has had some cases reported to them.

That is about all I know about it. If it had not happened to some regulars on another forum I am on I probably would not have known of it. I order from Amazon all the time too, never had to return anything yet fortunately.
