I just put my solid red shirt on, since I got back from my bike ride, and had my shower.

Oops, I forgot. I'm still hanging out in pj's each day and my only pair of red ones are for winter. I think I'll go find red socks to wear with my orange pj's. LOL

Oh, I should say: We wear red, to support our KT cancer fighters. There might be a few people that wonder, why red. :)

Yes I do know one person who lives in a cave, and he lives there because its different and he can afford it! but most of us have moved out of our caves and primative ways had have learnt to think for ourselves, which includes realising that the world is small and there are alot of us, and in order to rub along and survive maybe just maybe it isn't too difficult to take a bag into the supermarket for our groceries, doesn't mean we don't have a gas guzzeling 3.6 litre car but if we all do a bit, it all mounts up, I think there are in excess of 300 million people in the USA if they all use one less plasic bag in the supermarket in a year! thats alot of plastic, so imagine they a only use 20 each in a year because they forgot their reusable bag? small changes, and imagine you have to pay 10c a bag for plastic + tax would you stick to you non green ideals when you have 10 of them, of course not, and you think I am wrong whats $1 + tax, it works in other countries, I have my handy reusable bags they don't split or brake and are convenient to tote about. its not easy being green, but put it this way, I walked to the local supermarket the other day and a neighbour who didn't realise this is my daily routine clocked me 1/2 mile away from it, by the time she had turned round, gone through traffic lights found a space and got to the shop I was also walking in! and that's with twin 4 year olds who are apt to stop and look at every leaf, ant and piece of trash on the way! she was so insistant she wait to take me home, I used the only excuse I could think of, which she couldn't argue, "I'm British we walk" which is not strictly speaking true, but we walk alot more for everyday stuff, and we have sidewalk everywhere, I am lucky in the US I can make it the 1.7 miles to my local shopping area with 2 blips of businesses who do not have sidewalk, and whichever child is in the stroller has to get out and walk, because I cann't manage it. I miss passing people in the street and saying hello, athough I have noticed car drivers in the main wave, smile and give way to me and me and my boys, but its just not the same.

Well, we may have a difference of opinion there, Jasdip. But, it is nice to know that not only will there be hundreds of police from across the country there, in addition to Premier Prentice, Prime Minister Harper will be in attendance as well, to pay his respects. Too many of our young men in the RCMP and Canadian Forces have died on home soil this year at the hands of "idiots". I would like to call them what I really think, but I would be lowering myself to their level. My heart goes out to the families, and I would like to say to them, "You gave all and all I can do in return is say Thank You. God Bless."

I've worn a watch since I was grown up: don't remember the circumstances when I got my first one. En route home on furlough from my mission in Korea in 1957, I attended a conference near Geneva, Switzerland and came to know a young woman who worked in the World Council of Churches office there. She'd worked with a manufacturer of watches earlier and took me there to buy one. The name was "Jeanrichard" and as father's name was "Richard" and stepmother's "Jean" I was pleased. Dad didn't want the second that I bought: he, who always wore a watch, had one that pleased him ... but my youngest brother, also named "Richard" did, so he was pleased with it. A feature that they offered was that they needed no winding or batteries: there was a lever inside that wound their spring as one moved one's hands. I guess there was adequate storage, as they never lost time while one slept ... don't know if we ever let one sit still for an extended period to find out how long they kept the time. Don't recall how long it lasted: several years. I've had several since, usually Timex, and it's hard to find local watch repair places, to get the batteries replaced. My second last, the watch guy told me when it stopped not to replace the battery, as the insides were plastic and so badly worn that they weren't worth the cost of a battery. Daughter recently sent me her second gift of an Indiglo Timex, that lights up with the push of the crown to show the time in the dark ... and this frugal fella shed a couple of tears when viewing the postage fee of $U.S. 15.50 (about Cdn$20.00). ole joyful

Thanks for chiming in on this thread. I did want to say that in no time during the events of yesterday did I believe I was putting myself in harm's way. I kept a good distance from the man and observed him from the safety of my car most of the time. The woman who also stopped did walk down to him and peer at him from a distance, but she too knew not to get too close. He could've had a gun, I suppose, but I still never felt that I was "too close for comfort." The story of the young woman who had died while many continued to pass by is heartbreaking. That reminds me of something that I've thought about from time to time. I have driven through areas adjacent to parkland or a riverbed or wooded culvert, and have on occasion been hit in the nose with an overwhelming stench of something rotted. The decay of death is pretty unmistakable, though my nose doesn't know the difference between human and animal decomposition odor. I have wondered, when this happens, what if I've just smelled a human corpse? OK, so I probably haven't - but what if I HAVE? What if the decomposing evidence of a missing, murdered person has just made itself known? What if someone's loved one is lying out there near the stream? I think I'd feel weird about calling the authorities to report a SMELL ... but still ... what if?

I have red pants on. If we could just eradicate this disease by wearing red on Thursdays, one seventh of my wardrobe would be in red.

I have my red polo shirt on. I wore it to visit Dir_ty fingernails. This is her loooonng Chemo day. She has three days chemo every other week. My thoughts and prayers to all of our KT family in this awful battle. Dottie

I've been meaning to ask this ever since I noticed these "wear red" postings. I thought PINK was for cancer support, and red was for heart disease.

When did cancer support change to red?

nelles, back when Ruthie talked about her red nails, I thought up red. At first, I wanted to do the toe nails in red, but with winter approaching they wouldn't have been seen.

I know, pink is for breast cancer. But several KT members are fighting other cancers. I thought, wearing red could do the trick for us.

Thus, blame me, it was all my idea. :)

I had to wear blue today to support the University of Memphis in the playoffs. Go tigers!!!!! The navy blue shirt had red writing on it though.

Always in red on Thursday you will find me. I have been hiding at a friends in east Texas all week, so I couldn't sign on until now....
If I am not wrong, I think that a lot of the chemo liquid is red....true? I know my sisters was, and that is why I wear it proudly for all the gals dealing with cancer and other issues. No matter what, red is my color for Thursdays for all the girls.

I've been in a red shirt all day. Granted, it's kind of a rusty red, but it's RED. Even if nobody else knows what it's for, I know, and the thoughts which go with it are important.

Me too! I have only a couple red shirts, but I have a silver necklace with a red garnet, not brownish like some are, and I wear it on Thursdays.

At work today I wore a red shirt and a red blouse over it!
Living in the Cornhusker state AND with two kids in High school with red and gold as their colors, it's easy to find red in my closet! Now an even better reason to wear red!
