Good Photographer

I started fumbling with cameras in my mid teens. Basicly to take astrophotographs. Later I would take pics just to be able to show the "experience". In that same era one of my friends was taking pictures of everything. I thought he was nuts the way he wrote notes about every frame in a little book. I continued to wrecklesly snap pics of events I thought were interesting. My photo skills never went anywhere. My budy on the other hand ended up having his pics published in periodicles and such. Today I find that with digital cameras and a computers I can overcome a lot of the handicap I retain from not paying attention to what I'm doing. My photo skills have come a long way. Not because I'm a better photographer. Just from being able to manage the images in a timely manor. I shoot from the hip and keep my fingers crossed. Every once in a while I'm able to pick up a gem.

Sounds like you're doing good, I love digital, and love tinkering with the pictures, adding frames, etc. I didn't get a digital until I was 60 and am loving every minute of it. Keep snapping, sailfish. !

Hi Sailfish, I have always taken pics but just snapshots all through life...Then, I began gardening 4 yrs ago (going on 5), and realized that film wasn't quick enough as my experience with gardening grew, to see results of it. While I'm not a master gardener the gardening bug bit me and when I purchased my 1st very basic digital (photosnmart m305) late summer last year, the photograghy bug bit me also. I've since bought a fujifinepix e500 around Xmas a little more of an upgrade but am already looking for the next best upper affordable camera. I never walk out the door without one or the other and sometimes both and with my basic tripod (from walmart). Just love gardening, photograghy and editing...

Colleenoz - I am confused...you said "Since, as you admit, you had affairs yourself in response to what you felt were your wife's affairs.." I went back and re-read the OP's original, and follow-up posts several times, and am not seeing this at all. Can you explain where you got this? Was there a deleted post or something? What am I missing here?? OP - I know I am chiming in late here....but I have to ask why only the "first" affair seems of any importance to you? I was in a marriage where my (now) ex wife cheated on me twice, and let me tell you they both were punches in the gut. Why the fixation on the first one? I know the common (and probably correct) answer is if your marriage is good now and you want to be with her, then there's nothing to be gained by bringing it up. But, I do understand where you are coming from. After my wife's first affair, when we had [supposedly] agreed to stay in the marriage and work on things and all that, when it became clear that she just wanted to sweep it under the rug and never talk about it again, I felt that it was like I was letting her "get away" with it or something. Hard to explain. I guess I felt that she had betrayed me in such a bad way that she should have at least been made to own up to it, discuss it, etc. Not that it would have helped, I get that, just that it did leave me with a feeling of she got off easy, and it was hard to deal with. Then she did it again and that was it....one time, I could try to understand and forgive, not two.

Congratulations, if that's the word. Unfortunate you had refunded the money but that's a tough one in the circumstances. I am very glad the judge saw how things were - considering the annulment, what was mob hoping to gain? What's the point of wedding pictures? I do think you need to exercise caution in similar situations so you are not admitting liability which could have nailed you in different circumstances. Not that I wouldn't be sympathetic and wanting to make right something that hadn't turned out right, but you want that to be on your terms if you choose to do so. You do need a contract but along the lines of how I suggested earlier, imho. I think offering a retake of the formal pictures with a diplomatic explanation of what you thought the cause was (makeup) rather than saying makeup artist was incompetent, say the makeup doesn't appear to have reacted well to flash photography etc. That retake would be at your expense, getting parties together, travel etc at their expense. Ultimately your disclaimer should be like the Kodak one, all care no responsibility, liability limited to equivalent amount of unexposed film. That is your bottom line, you can always offer a more generous alternative if you choose (if problem was on your end say, of course you'd want to do what you could) and of course make sure any written offers (with the aforementioned caveats) include "without prejudice" provided that term is legal where you are. Hello Juanital,
My interests are simalar except I have a black thumb and I like to cook. To reiterate why I like to take pictures and find the camera so convenient to share an "experience" I'll post this pic. I was working on this Garden Patio till I was distracted by I don't know what? But this year I would like to finish the wood fired pizza oven (thats the round thing) and see if I cant get something growing around it so I can call it a "Garden" patio. Perhaps we can meet up in a garden forum and you could steer me along?

Can't wait to see your pizza oven and I love your garden patio. I'm like you...keep my fingers cross and hope for the best when it comes to shooting pictures :) No one said you have to be perfect....just HAVE FUN!!!

Hi Sailfish, That is going to be so cool when you get your black thumb a goin...What garden forum do ya visit? I hit 3,4, 5 or more of them. There's something to glean from them all as my gardening grows into different gardening interests.
