Do you have a trusted site for ordering Kohler products

I want to order the Kohler Whitehaven sink and am wondering if there is a trusted internet site used by Gardenweb people with good results. Can you recommend a site you have used for this purpose. I have found the sink at Amazon for a good price and free shipping but have never ordered from them.

I ordered all of the kohler fixtures for our new bathroom from faucetdirect.com a couple years ago and was happy with them.

I have ordered seeds from Pinetree and Jungs and Parks.They are all good for unusual seeds.Anything you order is more expensive.I also had some trouble with Parks seed germinating,but ordered tomatoes and joe pye weed etc. this year.Got my order in a very short time,maybe two weeks.Last year I bought perennial babys breath from Ferry Morse(really cheap at Orchlens).Everybody I talked to said they were slow to germinate and hard to grow.They popped up and I decided maybe they were annuals.E-mailed the company and she said they only sold the annual.She sent me two packages of zinnias to replace them.Those Zinnias did the best of any flowers I grew last year.Then I got a package of babys breath at Wal Mart(Burpees).They came up in a few days so I e-mailed Burpee.The lady really talked down to me and kept quoting things that were on the package.Told me that they don't have an agronomist on site and ended up sending me a check.She was rather rude,I thought.It left me with a bad feeling towards Burpee.They did send a catalog.I thought it was too high priced for my budget.The babys breath were perennials!I have not ordered from Bakers creek but had a disappointing experience with them.They were out of the seed I wanted in April at the store after I drove down there and paid admission to get in!PosyPet

Ordered/received mismatched finish...Do I have to correct?

We did brushed nickel in the vanity area and chrome in the shower. I WANTED the silver shower door because I don't like the coloring of the Kohler Brushed nickel as it looks like it has a lightly tinted beige color in it and doesn't match the Brushed Nickel fixtures AT ALL. But alas DH wanted the Brushed Nickel and it was my turn to compromise so we got Brushed Nickel. It's still in the box but I'm predicting it will look a little off. :c( Obviously, I don't think mixing finishes is a problem as long as their both in the silver family. And as you can see from my story, I personally think you're better off with the shower door you got. Sometimes mistakes are blessings in disguise. :c)

A lot of what you have heard about name-brand faucets sold in big box stores like Home Depot or Lowes is urban legend. However, let me emphasize the "brand name faucets". Nothing said here applies to off-brand or store-brand faucets. 1. Name brands build make some faucets just for big box stores (BBSs). TRUE. But if the model number is exactly the same as the faucet from a plumbing supply store it is exactly the same faucet. The caveat is that while it is exactly the same faucet, odds are very good that it was made in China or Mexico rather than in the U.S. or Canada. BBSs set price points very low, only Asian- or Mexican-made faucets can meet the price demand. 2. Brand name faucets sold in BBSs are made of cheaper materials like plastic or zinc instead of brass. Probably FALSE. The unit cost of producing special plastic/zinc parts for BBS faucets which would be made in relatively low quantities would probably be nearly the same as using the higher quality part which is made in very large quantities. Economies of scale apply when you are making thousands of the same model. Most likely if a part is plastic in the BBS model, it is also plastic in the non-BBS model. That being said, we have seen examples of models in BBS stores with plastic parts where the same parts are metal in the regular models. It's pretty rare, though, and we're not at all sure that the reason is the company changed the faucet over time and the non-BBS faucet was manufactured earlier while the parts were still metal. Due to price pressure, even very good faucets now have plastic parts, generally in areas of the faucet like aerators where the strength of metal is not needed. Except for the cheapest economy-model faucets, plastic parts do not affect a faucet's performance if used properly. 3. Warranty and parts service for name brands like Kohler, Moen, and Delta is not as good for faucets bought at BBSs than it is for models bought from plumbing suppliers. FALSE Customer service is the same no matter when you buy the faucet. By contrast, post-sale customer service for off-brand and store brand faucets is generally almost non-existent. ----- Remember to save all of the documents that come with the faucet (except the obvious promotional materials) along with the receipt for the faucet and the plumber's invoice, if any. Place them in a clear plastic envelope (a freezer bag works well) and tape them to the wall of the cabinet under the sink. That way you can find them when it's time to make a warranty claim or order a replacement part 20 years from now.

For the mentioned trees in your post, with the exception of the redbud, you cannot start them from seed and expect them to look like the parent tree. The trees you listed are cultivars and as such need to be propagated through grafting, cuttings, or other asexual methods in order to get a tree identical to the parents. You can start seeds from an 'Autumn Blaze' maple but the seedlings will not be 'Autumn Blaze'. Some will be similar to the parents and others will be similar ro the straight species that the variety was selected from. The same thing holds true with the copper beech and 'Crimson King' Norway maple. Seedlings from a named variety of copper beech will come up anywhere from completely green to purple-ish. If you want one of these named selections you will have to find a grafted plant or one started from a cutting for sale. There are a whole bunch of mail order nurseries that sell smaller grafts or cutting grown size plants if buying a larger plant is cost prohibitive. A smaller tree will also establish quicker and often out perform larger transplants that require longer to establish themselves post-planting. The redbud, if you do not want a selected variety/cultivar, can be started from seed. I actually have seed pods still hanging on my trees and can send you some if you'd like. When I have purchased seed, I have bought from both F.W. Schumacher and Scheffields with great germination results. Depending on which species you start from seed, you will have to treat the seed differently to allow germination. Some species require a couple months cold stratification (damp and cold but not frozen), some require warm followed by cold stratification, some require scarification where the seed coat needs to be weakened, and some can be sown without pretreatment. Schumacher's online catalog has species specific germination requirements listed on the details page for almost all the seeds they sell. Hope this helps!

I haven't ordered Kohler specifically, but can't say enough good things about faucetdirect.com and it's affiliates.

I don't work for them or anything, I'm just one more reason that it's worth it to them to put the effort they do into customer service. I recommend them constantly.

I ordered my last Kohler Bancroft toilet from www.vintagetub.com

Was less expensive than buying locally, and that's including having it shipped from the US to my front door in Canada.

Otherwise I buy my fixtures / supplies from local plumbing supply shops which provide better pricing and usually higher quality than buying at the big box stores.

Tricia21, did you find a good price for your sink yet? The cheapest I found the 36" Whitehaven for online was $824. I called my local plumbing house and asked if they matched price. I actually am getting it cheaper locally then what I could find it online. Also, the difference in price between the 36" and the 30" was only about $70. I like the Shaw and the Whitehaven, but the price difference is great between the two of them. Am glad to deal locally whenever possible.

I think the lowest online so far is $750 total...I have to try and find some local dealers in the next few days...I was hoping to stay around $650

Just ordered the whitehaven online from efaucets for $712 total. It was $750 and then i used a 5% coupon code. I tried a local store but they wouldn't go below $800 and that was before shipping.

I am looking at the Whitehaven sink as a possibility as well. I want the Cane Sugar finish and it's a $315 up charge. Which colors are you looking at?

Well sanjuangirl, I am in a quandry over a kitchen sink. I was all set to get the 36" Whitehaven in White until we went to a showroom and the gal showed me the "Sea Salt" finish. I much prefer the Sea Salt finish, It is still white, but has a softer sort of sea salt looking finish that seems a little more vintage to me. They also had the Shaw 36" sink on display which I love as well. Here is my problem. I have found the Shaw sink on line for $1108 total. The Whitehaven in Sea Salt is more than what I can get the Shaw for online. So which do I get? I like the bigger apron on the Shaw better. It fits the look of my farmhouse. The Whtehaven seems not quite as vintage looking. It is a little more sleek. I do not know why I am having such a hard time with this decision. I think it is because I like both. I saw the Cane Sugar too. If I remember correctly, it is more of a tan color, isn't it?

Yes. I'm also considering a Whitehaus apronfront which is much less expensive and has a reversible decorative front.......I'm more confused than ever....
