I have a Cuisinart custom 11 that i have to hold to work, the lid is cracked alittle so I bought a new Cusinart 14 cup but didnt open it. Does anyone think the newer one is superior to older one....thinking I should have just gotten replacement part.

I purchased the Magimix food processor a few months ago from Williams Sonoma. It was a very pricey purchase and I had given much careful thought before spending the money. I figured WS has great customer service so if it proved not to my liking I could return it. Well, this Magimix is absolutely awesome. It is the best food processor I have ever had. I had a Cuisinart prior to that, that I hated. The Cuisinart was a pain to put the blades on the attatchment post.....reminded me of trying to solve a puzzle. Therefore, it sat in a cupboard and was never used. The only Kitchenaid processor I had was a mini one, and it worked fine. Don't know about the full size ones. I've also had my share of the cheap ones over the years. The Magimix parts just slip on and is simple to use, and very powerful. Love it. Sandy

Someone posted a tip about putting plastic wrap between the bowl and the top of the processor so that the top doesn't get dirty. This works for most of my applications (at least for when I just purée, and I'm very grateful for it. I have neither Cuisinart nor Kitchenaid because when I bought mine I was on a very strict budget. I'd like to replace the cheaper one I bought, but I don't use it enough to justify it, especially since I now have less time for cooking anyway. I've gone back to using a mandolin for a lot of things I might use a food processor for, and my FP works fine for puréeing. I use my KA mixer for doughs. Lars

I have an ancient Cuisinart DLC7PRO and am trying to decide whether to buy replacement parts or buy a new food processor. Does anyone have a favorite replacement parts site? Ones I have looked at say that replacement parts don't reliably fit the older units because they were not standardized from year to year even though the model number stayed the same. Do the old slicing/shredding discs fit the newer units? I know the fps some with more discs now than they used to, but I have some extras that it would be nice to hold onto. Does anyone have any additional thoughts about capacity, Kitchen Aid vs. Cuisinart, etc.?
