All drawers in your base cabinets?
Comments (22)I got a mix of drawers and rollouts, depending on what goes in them. I like having the different adjustable heights of the rollouts with the low sides, especially with a single door on each side of the cooktop. I have deep 36" wide drawers under the cooktop. We have some other specialty cabinets, and a 27" cab with rollouts for snacks. For our needs, I found two banks of 4 drawers each under the peninsula (sink in the middle, recycling & DW on each side of it, drawers on each side of these) works much better than the deeper drawers. In our lower level galley kitchen, there are two 27" cabs with rollouts on each side of the range. The double doors don't bother me, like they seem to bother others--I'm just happy with the adjustable ROs. I was unsure how this kitchen would be used (my mother was supposed to live down there during the summers, but instead my daughter is), and put in one bank of 4 drawers and another with 3 drawers. The 3 drawers are useless here--she just puts paper bags in the 2 deep ones. Both kitchens have a walk in pantry. It's very helpful to make a list of everything that you want to keep in the kitchen, and then figure out what size drawer/rollout would work best. Comments (3)Look at the object you are painting and make a quick plan. The goal would be to not brush or roll back into areas that have already started to set. These days if you are using a latex/acrylic, you will have less than a minute. Because of the fast dry times, it can be more efficient to roll out the entire door/drawer and then backbrush everything the way you like it. Generally, I will do panels first, and try not to get too much paint outside of the panels. Then you would do horizontal areas with the edges included and then vertical areas with the edges included....See MoreWhat's The Best Product & Source For Lining Drawers & Cabinets?
Comments (27)I recently bought two kinds of liners from Lowes. (to make my old cabinets look less worn out! One was the clear liner that is ribbed and it seems very sturdy. Put it in my silverware drawer, and pots and pans drawer, etc. I also got maybe a Rubbermaid product that is printed and kind of cushy. I put it in less heavy duty areas - my towel drawer, under spices etc. I was surprised to read that you can wash it in the washing machine if it gets dirty. wow. Here is my tip though. I have always cut liners by just showing the stuff in there, creasing it where it meets the wall then cutting it with scissors Surrpisingly time consuming, and not very perfect. This time I measured my drawers and cut it with my rotary cutter and mat and rulers I used for quilting. It was so quick and easy and fits perfectly. Even the ribbed clear plastic cut with ease. Now I want to do my bathrooms too....See MoreBest Liners for Drawers and Cabinets?
Comments (20)SRK, so glad you asked this. My kitchen cabinets are being painted inside and outside and I want to line with clear plastic. I really to like the drawing board vinyl cover posted by palimpsest, though as stated it is expensive. May say money in the long term. Thanks to all of you for the links. Who knew there were so many decisions to be made in a modest kitchen reno! By the way, I agree about NO CONTACT PAPER. It is just too difficult to put down and too, too hard to remove....See Moreplumeriavine
