* Win+Home: Clear all but the active window. * Win+Space: All windows become transparent so you can see through to the desktop. * Win+Up arrow: Maximize the active window. * Shift+Win+Up arrow: Maximize the active window vertically. * Win+Down arrow: Minimize the window/Restore the window if it's maximized. * Win+Left/Right arrows: Dock the window to each side of the monitor. * Shift+Win+Left/Right arrows: Move the window to the monitor on the left or right. You can also interact with windows by dragging them with the mouse: * Drag window to the top: Maximize * Drag window left/right: Dock the window to fill half of the screen. * Shake window back/forth: Minimize everything but the current window. * Double-Click Top Window Border (edge): Maximize window vertically. Win That's the key with the Windows logo on it, to the left of the ALT key. Here is a link that might be useful: windows-7-shortcuts

Mikie you don't know it but you made me laugh. I actually forgot the easiest and the most obvious. Good thing it wasn't a snake. It would have jumped up and bit me. Thanks. DA

What keys do you use to shut down computer?

thanks, I know about the power button, but was trying to avoid that. I wanted to shut down some windows before hitting the power button. My husband was trying to back up some pics and plugged in a Maxtor One-Touch and it killed the mouse, (wireless). In an attempt to shut down Adobe Photoshop, he was using arrows and enter keys and had so many things open, and couldn't close them. By the time I got to the computer, he had IE, Firefox and AOL all running, Task Manager, My Computer, Adobe Photoshop, msconfig, etc, etc. I couldn't shut any of them down except to Power Off. I was hoping there was a way to shut down processes with the keyboard. I was worried about his pictures. But I had to hit the power button anyway. What a mess and now the mouse is dead. Don't know what happened. Jane

To take a screen shot, hold down the Control key And while holding it down hit the Print Screen key. Then release both keys. Open MS Paint (or another graphics program) and hold down the Control key again, and this time press the v key. This should paste a screenshot in the graphics program. Save the file from there. Hey, that does work......I thought it might be just the last letter, but I typed in the ubiquitous "Now is the time", hit Alt+backspace and it got rid of the whole phrase.

Me either! I spend all of my working hours on a PC and there are still so many of those cool little shortcuts that I've never found out about!

Also, if you have typed x number of words and decide you don't want them, go to Edit/Undo. Don't know how many words you can do that with though.

ctrl z is undo, but only goes back one correction.

Alt plus left arrow goes to the previous page. Like a Back button
Alt plus the right arrow key goes to the next page forward, if you've been there already. Does that make sense?

FWIW, using the alt+backspace to clear the line, you can use Ctrl+backspace to clear a word at a time.

Alt+left arrow will move your browser back a page, alt+right arrow will move forward a page.

Backspace will move your browser back a page, shift+backspace will move it forward a page.

In Opera, the x & z keys will work for forward and back a page.

Ctrl+z is undo and the levels it'll go back depend on the program and situation.

Ctrl+y is Redo with same provisions as undo.

There's a bunch of keyboard shortcuts that simplify the computer. I like them much better than the mouse for many things.
