Sorry, I didn't respond sooner, but this issue was solved long ago. It did require a pressure regulator from HD. The cheapest one I found worked fine. It seems counterintuitive, but the lower water pressure allowed the entire length of the hose to fill and 'sweat'. Apparently, high water pressure forces the water to escape as soon as possible by expanding the holes in the hose at the beginning leaving nothing for the far end. A lower water pressure cannot expand the holes and so the water tends to fill the hose and then more gradually leaks out of all holes.

FWIW a problem is that, I switched from Acclaim to Fusilade based on internet accounts that they are similar - which they are - and the fully in solution Fusilade seemed like it would be easier to measure than the annoying smelly suspension that is Acclaim. And it most definitely is. But there's a big problem: in a yard that is a mix of fescue and a bunch of other stuff, instead of pure fescue...the Fusilade just isn't sufficiently specific to weeds. Parts of the lower yard are looking so bad now, you'd think I'd just sprayed glyphosate to kill this damn stuff. I think I got every last bit this time...feeeeewwww. But I'm probably going to switch back to Acclaim for future grassy weed control. My Microstegium problem has fortunately gone way down. Previous neighbors used to let their shady back yard get completely engulfed with it, and cut just infrequently enough that it could flower. New owners follow the religion of 'scalpliness is next to godliness' - so now the back yard is microstegium cut so close it's barely alive but, hey, at least it can't flower! But there will always be some of it blowing in from other yards. This reminds me of a whole potential thread idea: what you're 'weed of the year', but I'll probably start that somewhere else. It's a surprise this year for me! And it isn't Arthraxon.

DH and I often sit on our back porch, especially this time of year and in the spring, and enjoy watching deer and whatever crosses through our yard late in the day. I have a group of long-time friends from our ski days. We met while going on ski trips and doing other activities with our local ski club in the late 80’s. None of us ski now and all of us are retired but we wanted to stay connected. We decided to go to lunch sometime during the month of our birthdays. The ’birthday girl’ gets to pick the restaurant. No gifts, just fun cards and everyone pays their own way. We sometimes do dessert for the honoree. One very special member has died so we decided to invite a few others we thought would enjoy our time together. So we started with 6 and are now up to 9 if everyone can come. I also see old friends from my home town fairly often for lunch, about 2-3 times a year. We never did this when our kids were growing up. Who had time? Many of the ones I was very close to have passed away or moved too far away to attend. I have friends I’ve met through volunteering, gardening, the gym, and several groups associated with support to non-profits (some of the same people as in the other activities). Many of us have made plans for lunch or coffee on the fly or had group pot-luck get togethers when we can.

I am a somewhat adventurous eater but not first thing in the morning. So first thing on waking cereal and fruit, oatmeal with plain yogurt or toast. Later on I might go for something richer or higher in protein. Smoked fish is a treat. A couple of icky memories - mostly intercultintercultural moments and mostly I wasn’t game due to time of day… Way back in college in Canada I had a lovely Singaporean friend who would make us Squid congee for breakfast. She was a few years older and very concerned about whether I and others had adequate food. She was also knew Americans liked cheese and would make me spray can cheese sandwiches. All in all I prefer squid to spray cheese but not first thing in the morning. I was once at a workplace very very early in the morning when someone offered me ’blueberries’ with a twinkle in his eyes. At the last second before I grabbed a handful I took a closer look. It was evidently termite season in southern Mexico. His mom had sent a batch of fried termites from home. Shudder! I was able to try a few later. They weren’t awful or delicious but at 6 AM the idea was too much. More recent and local I was with a friend - her breakfast was a very sweet drink and donuts. Super sweet fried things aren’t the best starts for my digestive system. Especially during chemo.
