So what are clems supposed to do in the fall?
Comments (10)Don't be concerned if your young clematis don't do anything much flowerwise or growthwise since they were just planted this year. Clematis take several years to get established and are concentrating on their root development so that they can reward you in subsequent years with their flowers. They are not immediate gratification plants. Patience is the key with them. As to whether your type IIs will flower again, it all depends on the weather and how nice it stays before your first killing frosts. Plenty of my clematis that browned out this summer during the heat and lack of rainfall have begun putting out new growth since the weather has cooled and we have been getting rainfall. This is typical for any plant because this weather is similar to what they experience in spring--they are just responding to the weather conditions. There is nothing you can do to keep them from responding to the weather. I am just taking a wait and see attitude to see what happens with them and whether I will get any blooms this fall. If I do great, if not that is fine also. The Henryi will probably be fine in its container however burying the pot in the soil will help increase its chances of survival since I am not sure of the particular weather conditions you might experience in your gardening zone....See Moreso what am i supposed to plant then?!?!
Comments (6)but my question is, basically, will the hot weather tomatoes be able to cope with the below 55 degree nights? the warmest night we have had this year has been 54. thats why i am confused on what to plant. The night temps will pose no problems for the plants although the few blooms open then may or may not set, but the majority of blooms open in the day and the heat-tolerant varieties will tolerate that better and will set fruit. The only other option is to go strictly with the so-called early varieties that will do well with the cooler nights. But the day temps would do them in. If this is your normal weather every year (weather this year is a problem for many) and it lasts ALL summer then you may have to consider one of the other approaches to growing them such as row houses, tunnels, etc. And in the link above, did you also read the part about cutting back on nitrogen fertilizers? And about how some varieties (mid-season, late-season) will only set fruit later in the season no matter what you do? You might also get some good info on which varieties work well in your area from other local tomato growers and from your local county AG extension office. Comments (7)We have a few addicts in our family. You probably know these things, but in case you don't... The first things drugs do is destroy a person's conscience. Right and wrong mean nothing to an addict--they only care about finding the money for their next fix. Addicts lie. MOST of the time. NO ONE can 'fix' an addict or their relationship with one. As long as you're trying to help him (paying for life's essentials, letting him get away with abusing you, etc), YOU are keeping him an addict. Most addicts really don't change. The few who do usually do so only after they've totally hit rock bottom. Helping him as you are, is keeping him from deciding to get the real help he needs. Look, as the others have said, YOU cannot fix this problem. All you really can do is save yourself. Get out. Take some time to heal, and find a real man, who truly loves you, and won't abuse you physically, verbally and financially. And just in case those words don't help you make up your mind--are you prepared to go to jail for this man? If the police find drugs in the car while YOU'RE driving it, YOU could be charged with the crime. And do you really believe this guy would step up and claim ownership of them to get you out of trouble? I doubt it. Whatever else you decide to do, please start squirrelling money away for the legal fees you no doubt will be paying sometime in the future, because one or the other of you will probably need to be bailed out and defended at some point...See MoreWhat do you use for bath rugs?
Comments (14)i have a wool area rug in front of my tub and then a plain one in chocolate brown that goes well withthe colors in front of my vanity. I have a few of the hotel style thick bath mats that get washed a few times a week foor when we bathe that get put down in fron of the shower or over the wool rug to step on. they get put over the side of the tub or towel bar to dry. They have them at Target for a decent price. My kids use their hand towels. We always have a surplus of them for some reason? I think it is because they wear less than bath and washcloths. ? I don't know why?...See MoreOlychick
