So what are clems supposed to do in the fall?

Hello,

it's my first year growing clems, and I managed to acquire 11 of them through spring and summer.

Some are type two, some type three.

Some flowered a little in the beginning of the summer, some did not. After that all of them did NOTHING through the summer.

Now, when the weather got cold ( about 40F at night) they are swelling their buds and some put on new growth. I thought that type two flowers again in the fall, but will this really happen ? It is so late in the year, the trees are losing their leaves, is this normal behaviour for clems? Why are they growing now, when there's no point in growing any more, because winter is coming?

I have a few that did zero growth since I bought them and now they are still sitting there doing nothing, will the survive?

I also purchased a sorry looking Henryi a month ago, I potted in a 3 gallon deep narrow container, does it need to be burried for winter?

Thank you, sorry if the questions are dumb
