What Is Everyone Doing This Sunny Day!

The sun is really shining today! However I think it feels colder than yesterday. Izzi and I took a walk to the club house and back. She sure enjoys being out. I have chicken cooking in the crock post for Izzi's meals. I made a big batch of pie dough, used up five pounds of flour. I am not fixing supper as I plan to go to the puppies class tonight. I did bake a dark chocolate fudge cake for husband's dessert, he will pick himself up a sandwich for his supper. I hope everyone else is having a sunny day too.

Went shopping today, left at 11am, just got back at 3pm; my friend and I were pooped! We must be getting old, feet hurt, backs hurt, felt like we needed to sleep. When I dropped her off at her house, all I could think about was getting home and drinking a big cup of coffee. I might still take a cat nap. Sheesh.

Sorry about your flood, but glad you found a silver lining. Unfortunately, all sorts of disasters befall gardeners, if they garden for any length of time, as I have. Hurricanes, floods, droughts, pestilence. Just keep on keepin' on, what more can we do?

What is the pinkish one in the top right corner of the RED RAMPAGE photo? I'm going to be difficult and pick the one you weren't even trying to take a photo of as my favorite. That bright violet eye really caught my attention. COUNT IT ALL JOY is my favorite of the rest, and your PURPLE MAZE continues to look very lovely. I'm with you in not liking JULIE NEWMAR as much as everyone else seems to. Her colors wow me, but I'm not fond of her form in most pics I see of her. Casey

Worked today. We had a dinner at work for Mother's Day, fried chicken, potatoes & green beans, corn, broccoli salad, rolls, macaroni salad, potato salad, mac & cheese, fresh apple slices and strawberry cheesecake. All very good. Nice, semi-busy day, but not horribly so. Came home and me and the kids took out all our old junk, old paint cans from when we first moved here to this house and what the previous owner left, 2 microwaves, a treadmill, old bookcase (that someone picked up while we were still moving stuff out), two broken dining room chairs, an end table, several computer terminals, an old monitor, Lauren's old daybed and mattresses, old broken Christmas tree, etc... The city is coming to pick up this stuff tomorrow. They do it once a year. The guy who came to look through our junk and who took the bookcase, helped Alex move the treadmill down to the road. We three were struggling to get it out of the front door so he came up to help. Nice, huh? Someone else came by before that but I don't think they took anything. Tomorrow and the next day I get to finish painting Alex's old room, clean it up and then work on cleaning up the garage. I've had my car sitting out the last few days and I'll be glad to be able to put it in the garage at night. It was chilly this morning with dew all over it, took forever to clear the windows so I could see out of it. Oh, and my dad called while I was at work to wish me a Happy Mother's day, so when I was on break I called him back (he had left me a voicemail messsage), got a text from an old friend and one newer friend, for the same reason. Came home and the kids had a card waiting for me. ( : Not too bad a Mother's Day.

Thanks Amy! I think I cheated on the penstemon, they had flower buds when I got them, being fresh pot bound nursery plants and all this year. I do have a penstemon that was supposed to be P. mensarum but I'm fairly certain it's not it hasn't flowered yet so I don't know what it is. I also have a couple P. pinifolius that haven't flowered yet either and a P. eatonii that is still just a rosette. Hey! If you swing by my newest post (Hiking) I have some pics of P. virens and P. secundiflorus that are going crazy at work!

I ran some errands, went to see sister Annie in the Home. I wanted to watch them use the Wii that was donated at Christmas time. Also had the Bowling game donated with it. I wanted to see how it worked and how fit a resident had to be to use it. Darn, darn, darn......someone stole it!!!

Talked with a couple of sisters on the phone, then ate leftovers for supper. I love easy meals.

And of course, I'll be watching Survivor later on.

I went to water aerobics class and have enjoyed a beautiful, sunny day here on California's central coast.
Rain yesterday, blue skies today with some snow on the mountains towards the Santa Barbara, Santa Ynez valley.
I pulled a few weeds today. All the rain we have had followed by warm, sunny days helps grow bumper crops of weeds.

The sun was out but the wind was cold, cold! I went out for groceries. First to Sharp Shopper for milk and 'taters and a couple other things. Also walked through KMart to see about a portable mixer. Mine gave up the ghost a couple weeks ago. I bought it at a yard sale many years ago, so can't complain. They didn't have any. Sure is a bother to get out the old Sunbeam any more.

My bones were really aching today. Sure will be glad when we have some good dry warm weather. I went to Krogers and got what I needed, and as usual after putting things away, I sat in the recliner to rest and went to sleep.

Had a PB & jelly sandwich for supper.

Tomorrow and the weekend are supposed to be nice. Hope they are right,

Sue
