Painting Exterior - Help with Creamy Beige

After 5 years of living in our 1970's center hall colonial, we are going to paint the exterior. I am very excited to finally change the color of the house. Its currently a faded grayish taupe with dark green shutters. I want to paint the house a creamy beige with black shutters. The painter has recommended BM navajo white. I have also been thinking about BM rich cream, linen white (too light for exterior?) and montgomery white. Any suggestions or pics of your homes? Thank you for your help.

I have used BM Navajo White on interior walls - a versatile, classic color that would be hard to dislike. Take a look at BM Palace White. It is a beautiful, creamy color. We used it on all of the exterior trim and are very pleased with the outcome. However, it's important to see your choices painted on an outside wall in side-by- side swatches of the trim color next the body color to get an accurate idea of what it will look like. This process has really helped me with making the right choice. One of the colors that I eliminated right away was Montgomery White because it took on an Ecru cast that was not apparent to me from the BM paint chip.

Thanks for the advice. I'll take a look at Palace White. My painter was not fond of Montgomery White either. He thought it was too loud.

Yeah, same here, like it's a dolomite or marble. You get so tired of looking, you're like "I don't care any more!!" lol. Actually, it's not funny. It's a true investment that gets used daily...so it DOES need to hold up and endure. I too am a messy cook and am a person that doesn't mind if something sits on the countertop for a few hours esp when you're having a party -- what's on my countertop is my least concern!

I really dislike painted brick and yours is so neutral I think going a shade darker than the darkest color in the brick would be good for the siding, You might think about matching the garage door to the front door if going wood This is one of my favorite ideas for landscaping a MCM ranch I have a MCM ranch and am going to work toward this idea for my landscaping

I would message the company and ask if they ship to Canada you want to try something darker? I do this on the shutters and trim. you could also stick w/a creamy white for other trim. try the dark on the fascia and the shutters. see how you like it. keep the eaves underneath the white color, and the inner trim around the windows in the white, but I'd do the garage door, downspouts and other in the darker shade. For the front door, pick an actual color in the blues or greens. or even black. black w/the darker trim tones would look great. why don't you grab some samples of some of these darker hues and paint one of the shutters so you can see? These should give you enough to go on.

With your brown roof, I dont like any of the grays on your house. I do like the post of Theresen, up above with the tanner siding, and darker trim the best of any of the others above. I like the bahama shutters too, however they can get pricey, and I would wait on that until budget allows. Leave the windows themselves the white they are. By using the darker trim, you dont have to worry about matching the white of the windows, and it will add a lot more interest to your house.
