Happy T-day to all our American friends

Happy Thanksgiving to all of you from your friends North of the border. Enjoy your family, friends, and of course the food knowing we are so blessed to live in the two countries we live in.

I'm jealous of your turkey dinners, I missed mine this year and worse yet missed those wonderful leftovers. Oh well Christmas is just 5 weeks away! YIKES!!!!

I wish we had spent the afternoon on the tractor. Instead we spent it on the toilet, lol. Day started off good. He surprised me with tickets to Hawaii for the family reunion and then we went out to eat. It went downhill from there. We stopped at Lowes to get a couple things to fix the water faucet in the greenhouse and before we got parked it hit me then got John by the time we got home so didn't get anything done. Then his sister called and said not enough people were coming to the reunion because it was going to be on Honolulu so they changed it to their home island of Kauaii. Now we have to buy another ticket. Oh well it will work out. Hopefully the bellies will be better tomorrow too. Got lots of room in my heart for all my friends and family and pets. You guys all mean a lot to me.

What a lovely message...thanks Bill for your thoughts. I consider myself still a relative newcomer to GW and a novice, but have made many 'virtual friends'. Thanks to GW and it's forums I have learnt a lot. Yes, as you say, it's a US festival, not one we celebrate back here in chilly/foggy/wet/damp ole Blighty...but I too wish you all...'ALL THE VERY BEST'. Cheers! Gill.

Hello all... thanks for all the kind words. I am still trying to struggle through the day. Somedays I am ok, but others not that great. It was her birthday on October 20th. She would have been 64 or "39" as she would have said. We went to the park and fed the ducks... she always liked to do that. I also brought daisys and popped the tops off and placed them in the water. I miss the way that I would call her and she would be willing to go with me on what ever adventure I wanted to go on that day. She was always there for me. I know I am lucky to have a person like that and that it was my Mom, but it hurts no less. I am trying to build a new "normal". It is rough though because everything I do reminds me of her. I started to move around furniture in our house and I was thinking that everything I touched we bought together. She was a great decorator and I have no decorating sense at all. I just wonder when the feeling that I am completly lost and alone will go away. The holidays are coming and I hate it. I think we are going to plan a vacation at Christmas so I don't have to think about it. I don't know about Thanksgiving. Mom used to make the best mashed potatoes. This is so freaking hard. I think I am going to check into counseling again. It is so hard because I put on a strong face when I am out, but crumble when I get to my car or at home. I talk to my husband, but I don't think he really understands. What do you all do for the holidays?? Any ideas on how to get through them?

Happy Thanksgiving! It's shivery here, with no power since Monday night and uncharacteristically cold temps outside. Thank goodness for the gas rangetop. And we now hear chainsaws down the road, hopefully getting the tree of the lines. 9 of the 10 of us are here, and the 10th is happily situated with another big family who is sharing their holiday with her...and we're all well and safe...so we count our many blessings. Wishing you all a warm and safe and love-filled day.

Woohoo!!! All that yummy cooking and baking going on.

I love our TG in October, for sure, but seeing all this talk of turkey, stuffing and fixings, makes me hungry for another feast!

Thanks Sharon. It's hard for me to even think of Canada as being a separate country. Guess I've lived too close to the border all my life. As far as I'm concerned you are all just neighbors.

You can celebrate Thanksgiving, any time of the Year.

About 20 years ago we would have Christmas in July.

There wasn't much snow around then.
