good thoughts and prayers please

We are just about to leave to bring our 22 year daughter to have her gall bladder removed. She has been sick almost a month and they finally found it was her GB. They are hoping to do a Laparoscopy but will not know until they get in. I sure hope it can be done with just a laparoscopy. She will be able to be back at work Monday or Tuesday if this is how it's done. Otherwise it's a much longer recovery.

I've had 2 laparoscopies and they really are not bad.

Any good thoughts and prayers are welcome.

Sending good thoughts to your daughter.

My friend's elderly Mom had gall bladder laprascopy done a few months ago and was out of the hospital the same night. I think if it was me I might want to stay overnight at least.

My hubby & I made the trip to Iowa City yesterday with my latest catscan in hand & I was very fearful of going to this appointment. I knew my 5 mos of chemo had shrunk the largest tumor & I was hoping for good news. Well, we got both good news & bad news & the wind knocked out of our sails for both of us & last nite was able to update my status: "For those of you who know I have been fighting cancer for 6 mos, I had an appt today in Iowa City w/cancer dr/surgeon & now after 5 mos of chemo here locally, I am ready for surgery. That will happen in the middle of Jan ....so for now, I am 'chemo-free' & intend to enjoy everything I can for the next 6 weeks. Unfortunately, after surgery & recovery (4 to 6 wks), I will then require chemo for at least 6 - 12 mos. Thank you for all your good thoughts, prayers, comments and/or cards ... appreciated! Right now I am building up strength for the year ahead." So, starting this morning, after a good night's sleep, I am enjoying the next 6 weeks of 'chemo-freedom'... ;-) Happy Holidays! ~~Hugs, Jeanne S.

Well, thanks again everyone!! I sent a KT link to my brother and he came and read everyones posts and said "wow, its awesome to know that people that have never even met me are praying for and thinking about me" I told him what a bunch of nice people are here and he is gonna join us!! So, when he does, feel free to pick on him it makes him feel loved!! LOL I've been doing it for years!

Update. My cousin is out of intensive care and in a regular room as of a few days ago. He hasn't talked yet, is on feeding tube. He did motion for his sister to come over to him and he gave her a kiss. It sounds like this is going to be a long recover for him. My uncle lost his other son 9 years ago or more to a undiagnosed nerve degenerative disease. He didn't have regular insurance and was treated through the VA. I have heard of horrible things about the VA's care so I just don't think they gave him proper care. He was such a strong, vibrate, good looking man. It was really sad.

Three of my re;atibes have had gall bladder surgery in the last ten years, my father, sister and my niece. Three generations. Niece had it the easiest-she was only 16 when she had it done and bounced back very fast. She was back at school and her job within a few days.

Sending good thoughts your way. DH had his out several years ago by lapy and was up and around in a day or two.
