Does this bedding work for guest bedroom?

We are turning our "toyroom" into a guest bedroom now that my youngest has turned 10. I would love your help to pick a bedding. My home is traditional with warm colors, sage, beiges, golds etc. so I'm not sure if these sets are too cool for our home. I have to use this bed from my youngest dd's bedroom, as we made her an upholstered headboard.

Picture of bedding #1, which I am thinking is alittle too formal and silky like?

Bedding #2, which I like but afraid it might be too busy?

My vote would be for the second bedding. I do have to admit to a bias toward paisley, though! I think it is a lovely color combo, has some interest, and gives some color options for your walls and accents. I think it also feels just a bit more like the comfy yet elegant feel of your inspiration room. The first choice says much more formal to me, and I know as a guest I wouldn't like the feel of the bedding.

sis2two - No I have not decided!! LOL I am all over the place with this and my mind is doing mental gymnastics trying to pull it together in my head so that I don't make any costly mistakes that I will end up regretting. At first I thought I wanted black/cream. Then I was leaning towards brown/cream. Now I am stuck on a red/cream set on the Horchow site. I am trying to work out the details of what would go on the windows with any of the patterns. Once I figure all that out, I will then attempt the paint color. LOL I am still confused and frozen as to what to do next. cheri127 - thanks for the info. Your bed looks very pretty! What color is that painted on your wall behind the bed? It looks like a golden yellow in the pic. That is interesting what you said about the material being stiff..I was wondering that myself, about the feel of the material. Even if I did get the French Laundry Duvet (or use similar red toile fabric to have one made) I am not envisioning what kind of color should go on the walls. The only color I could imagine would be some type of cream or yellow. I am having such a mental block with this room! The key problems being, that it is so open (because of french doors) to the rest of the house so it must flow. And the other dilemma being that because of the L shape in the room, the bedding pattern will be on side of the room. I very much want to go with the pretty cream colored curtains that I posted above but still unsure if those would coordinate with any of the bedding I am considering. I need an HGTV expert to come rescue me!!! lol :)

I think it's a very cozy, inviting room! The only things I would change would be balancing the artwork and scooching the chairs out just a bit further apart (but if you like the chairs close, then leave them as they are). Both sets of pictures look "off" to me. I would probably center the larger print alone over the red table, align the dog picture alone above the table (maybe centered between the plants? or centered above the table? I'd have to play with it), then move the two smaller pictures to the opposite wall from the dog picture (either stacked or directly side by side -- I can't tell how much room you have there). Yes, your new bedding looks much nicer. I love the colors you chose. They are a very soothing and calming choice--perfect for a bedroom. As for what to put above the bed, do you already own the mirrors and pictures or do you plan to purchase either or? It sounds as if you like both options. Use both in the room somewhere. Try one option over the bed then the other. I often change the positioning of things. It keeps rooms from eventually feeling monotonous or boring. What will be next? The rug? Bedside lamps? Seating? I look forward to seeing the room's progress.

i believe the white is maybe as opposed to blue or black or the current gray? Whereas the gentleman who was interested in the pink was one of our punsters, seeking to play with us. I was told by someone older than us that pink for men was only for late 50s early 60s, only to us does it feel like forever. the gentleman in question has returned in several dimensions the name is mulder.

Not sure what you think about this.... but I saw it on our local Craigslist this morning and thought of you. Since it is a duvet cover, it would be easily shipped.

"Gently used Pottery Barn Duvet Cover and two standard shams and two euro shams. Placed in a guest room for a few months. Please see pattern below. Paid $300 will sell all pieces for $100. If interested please email."

bestyears - thanks, that was so nice of you to think of me! I really like that set but not sure I would like a duvet cover, although I've never really tried one.

kristen, sueb20 - thank you for voting! sue- I'm glad you don't think it is too busy. I was worrying about all that pattern, but I was thinking maybe I could just use plain pillows instead of the shams.

So, so you all think the 2nd bedding would go with a "warm" colored house? I was thinking about painting the walls a milk chocolate color.

I also like the second bedding. I think, in a guest bedroom, it's impt. to choose a washable bedding--the satiny one looks dry-clean only whereas the paisley one looks washable. I'd suggest pairing the paisley bedding with a white coverlet which will add a more calming, less busy look to break up all the paisley.

valinsv- thanks! I was wondering what color I could use with it. I thought beige, but the walls are going to beige and I wasn't sure if white would be too bright.
