You might want to remove the spent blooms on the buddleia and agastache's to prevent heavy reseeding. I keep my buddleia's deadheaded throughout the season, and always whack my 7'er back to about 4' now, then as far back as I can in the spring. It's over 10 years old and has a huge trunk, so it can't be pruned back lower than 2' anyway. I've pruned it both in winter & in spring, and it always comes back. If you're a bird person, the goldfinches would probably love you for leaving the heads on the agastaches, but come spring time, you'll probably have loads of seedlings (all in the wrong place, like me!). As for the daylilies, I don't think it matters when you whack them back, but like most bulbs, you shouldn't cut them back if they're still green. Considering it's hard to kill a daylily (IMO), you should be okay. Same with hostas; I can't kill mine. I tend to leave my few ornamental grasses up; I like to see them poking up through the snow. Azaleas should be pruned right after they bloom; never much later (see rhizo's reply).

Keep your caerulea for a pollinator for your other passiflora that need one. It is a great pollinator and the flowers smell awesome. You could get one of the edulis varieties for eating, there are purple or yellow fruited varieties. Wellpring on ebay sells small starter plants fairly cheap like 8.00 or so. Just do a search on ebay for "passiflora plant".

I've never had venison. I would like to try it once, but I have to agree with not being comfortable with those who hunt just for sport. Even so, we have a whitetail overpopulation problem here, so the herd is not healthy and the woods won't be either if it continues. In that case, I think they should let the hunters thin the herd and give the meat to the food banks (if the clients will eat it, that is). I had never had lamb or mutton until I was an adult. We had mutton on the Navajo reservation and liked it. Lamb korma is one of my favorite dishes now. It took me awhile to like sheep's or goat's milk cheese -- some I still don't like. And I haven't yet found a taste for goat -- that smells and tastes nasty to me.

Answering the question of what to put in place of the trees, I'd recommend sod in order to heal the scarred lawn. The area is too close to the drive and street for shrub obstructions and there are already street trees nearby. If you are trying to hide some of the property across the street, then place a dome shaped shrub about 15'-20' from the street and 10'-12' from the drive. (Placing it too close to street or drive will be a disadvantage in one way or another.) The acceptable shapes to prune it to are dome or tapered cylinder. (If you prune to a ball, you'll ultimately be creating a mushroom shape tree form where the stem would be short stilts.) It could have a square footprint if you prefer. I'm not saying that placing a shrub there is ideal regardless of other circumstances. It's ideal if it solves your problem. If you don't need it, stick with sod only. I would be limbing up the street trees a little for cleaner appearance and so it's not a bigger job later. Examples of dome shaped shrubs, circled in red, especially at the background. It could be evergreen but doesn't seem that it must be, which would open up the the options in shrub selection.
