Help for newbie, roast turkey, water in pan???

I all. I'm not really sure how to roast my turkey! :) I need help with my fresh, organic, free-range turkey. She weighs in at 11.3 lbs and is not too big. The website from the farm the turkey came from says:

"Heat oven to 325 F. Place bird in open pan, breast side up. Pour two 8 ounce cups of water in bottom of pan. Place in oven. See table below for suggested roasting times."

Well, I don't know if that means the bird will be sitting in water or what. Also, I've never heard of putting water in the pan before. I don't have one of those pans with a grill on top that keeps the turkey above the drippings, I just have either a porcelain baker, a glass pyrex lasangna pan or a gigantic throw away foil type pan.

I'm thinking that with my choice of pans, I won't need to put water in...does that sound right?

ANY and ALL help is more than greatly appreciated. This is our first fresh turkey although we did have one of those no-thaw turkeys but it was all full of a ton of preservatives and I'm pretty sure it did not taste as good as it could have. We won't be stuffing the turkey and we would like to try placing the breast down...

Help, please...

Thank you!!

Jennifer
