I'm done - Happy Thanksgiving all

Turkey is in the oven, stuffing just needs the broth and baking, wild rice salad is all mis en place ready to cook an hour before we eat as are roasted veggies. Cranberry relish, apple cherry turnovers and bourbon sweet potato casserole with praline topping are in fridge and the sweet potatoes and turnovers are ready to pop in the oven.

Bread is rising and pecan pie is cooling.

Oh yum!!! I'll bet your house smells just as wonderful as mine does right now. Kim went outside and when she came in all she could say was "OMG the house smells good!"

I just made the topping for my salad, it's like a pineapple curd and it cooling in the freezer. I could have made it last night, but there's a good chance that it would have called to me in the night and then I would have had to make more today anyway. I always double the recipe as it is.

The dishwasher is running...filled it up with cooking dishes...

Thanks! Happy holidays to you, too. Heavy rain is soaking my sleeping bulbs right now. At least it's not snow....yet. Of course, when I say "I'm done," I am not counting the tropical summer bulbs, not hardy in my zone, that I never got planted at all. I brought a few bags of those into the house, not knowing what else to do with them, and saw they were sprouting in the bags. Maybe I'll throw them all together in a pot indoors, and see what happens.....

I can't get any more of my granite. It was hard to find from the offset (Bros blue leathered), and there are no remnants left that will work. The white wall is just primed. I need something there, even if it's just paint. And in some I need something more than pain between my range and hood, even with the range's raised back. I was thinking it would be the same as behind the sink. So that would be two not three things. That said, I'm still working on something I don't hate. I mocked up a glass backslash for behind the sink. The photo shows cheap photo frame glass taped up. I can get an exactly measured piece online for $40-50. No seems. Not sure about local. Thoughts? I feel the need to reiterate, I don't know how to get a decent photo. The kitchen doesn't feel dark at all. I used fill flash, but I'm shooting into a brightly lit window.

Happy Thanksgiving! It's shivery here, with no power since Monday night and uncharacteristically cold temps outside. Thank goodness for the gas rangetop. And we now hear chainsaws down the road, hopefully getting the tree of the lines. 9 of the 10 of us are here, and the 10th is happily situated with another big family who is sharing their holiday with her...and we're all well and safe...so we count our many blessings. Wishing you all a warm and safe and love-filled day.

I think I have to agree with daveho. Overall the floor looks quite good. It looks flat, even in sheen and free of debris/puddles/drips/holidays and such. I don't think it's unreasonable to ask that the putty either be removed or painted over with something that would match the floor better. The orbital scratches are unfortunate but in the whole scheme of things, don't amount to a failing grade. Keep in mind that floors are judged from a standing position. Judging by the closeup, the patch could be darker but in the other picture it looks better. Considering the character your floor has, I think that the putty is the only thing I'd recommend addressing. Darkening all or some of the light patched boards might end up making the floor look worse.

I'm stopping in for a quick check around and to read emails.

I have the sweet potato and pumpkin pie baked and cooling.
The dressing is just finished and in the casserole dish, when it cools a bit I'll place in the fridge for a bit.
Bread dough is in the bread machine. Turkey is in the oven..so about 3 hours from now.

Sitting down sipping some coffee...Still have potatoes to get in the pot and let sit, the sweet potatoes to put in a baking dish and figure out what I'm going to top them with..and decide if I'm roasting cauli with the broccoli....

Well, I'm quite full from our feast but your menus sound pretty good.

I had ten of us here at my house today for our mid-day meal. It was all delicious! My DBIL gave his son his first Carving Turkey 101 class, my nephew from Charlotte was only an hour late, the new recipe for green beans was a hit, and my yappy little dog stayed in his crate in the car and didn't make a sound! Remarkable!

I'm not eating until tomorrow, the girls had dinner at their Dad's today, at my house tomorrow.

I made Fatlester's Espresso Brownie Chunk ice cream along with a batch of plain vanilla to go with the blueberry crisp and I finished the cranberry jezebel. Sol's Honey Rolls are baked and the turkey is still in a cooler in the garage, but the sweet potatoes are cooked and ready to get "marshmallowed" tomorrow. The fruit salad is in the refrigerator, the green bean casserole is ready to assemble and the chocolate cupcakes have become turkeys for the kids.

Tomorrow I'll roast the turkey, make the mashed potatoes and gravy, construct the salad, bake the blueberry crisp and be thankful. After that trip to the store for the marshmallows that I forgot. I think I have a mental block about those.....

We have eaten(even the choc lab got a plate].The kitchen is clean,dishwaher is emptied and here I sit.Getting ready to go to the animal shelter in the morning.

It's 10:30 pm and I am back from Mom's. We had the traditional Thanksgiving meal. My brother brought his to new cockatoos along with him. They are still young and very funny. They were walking all over the table and tracked gravy and sweet potatoes all over. We didn't invite them to join us until after we had finished.

We all pitched in and got the kitchen clean in record time. Then we had pumpkin pie. After that we moved into the living room and watched the Eagles game. I'm not a big football fan but when I left the Eagles had a good lead. Go Birds.

Now I am going to fall into bed. Glad you all had a nice Thanksgiving whether it was today or back in October. And for those of you holding off until the weekend -- enjoy it then!

The dishes are done, the food is put away. Leftovers have been sent home with my son. The turkey needs to be dismantled but I haven't the energy tonight. I did two loads of dishes while I cooked so there wasn't too much more than the dishes on the table to wash. I have a glass of wine in hand. Whew!

I'm stuffed like the turkey. The kitchen's all cleaned, leftover's in the fridge waiting to be enjoyed tomorrow and I've got jammie's on.... ready for bed. Nice day.
