Your very favorite favorite!
Comments (40)Keep searching! By the middle to end of summer, lots of bulb companies will have their websites updated with new listings of bulbs... and the Fall 2008 catalogs will be available! If you Google "fall bulbs" or "amaryllis" or "hippeastrum", or any key word combination related to indoor forcing bulbs or bulbs for indoor forcing, you should get lots of results with tons of links to follow! Companies that sell Tulips and Daffodils often sell Hippeastrum bulbs, as well. I searched last fall for online catalogs and retail sellers of hippeastrum, and I found lots of links to stores and places to order from! One of my favorite places is Royal Colors... John Scheeper's is another good bulb company... Brent & Becky's, Blooming Bulb, Dutch Gardens, Nature Hills, Garden Import, and the list goes on... A Google search for amaryllis bulbs should net a good amount of places to begin looking! Here is a link that might be useful: Royal Colors...See MorePotted Patio Plants: What's Your Favorite and Why?
Comments (1)Toss-up between mini roses, dwarf orange and violets and since they bloom at different times, it really isn't a problem, lol. The oranges ripen about the same time the roses have to be pruned. The violets are winter and spring flowering and look so lovely. During the summer, the rose and orange leaves are green, the violets are dead and I'm dreaming of cooler temps in a land far, far away....See Moremarket umbrella? patio umbrella?: difference?
Comments (5)We just bought a sunbrella at Costco. It was $99. It has the little slits on top and a tilt top. We also bought a granite stand for it. We had extremely bad winds a few days ago and stood up just fine, though that could be due to the heavy base as much as the unbrella. Then I saw them listed in the Ballard's catalog for closer to $400. I'm happy with my choice as I could not see spending so much for an umbrella, though mine only came in tan and you got choice of color at Ballards. I also saw some in the new Pottery Barn catalog and they have several there in different colors as well in the $100+ price range....See MorePatio Umbrellas-Market Umbrellas and Cantilevered
Comments (12)I should have mentioned this. That pic was from last summer when we first got it. Initially we slipped the iron base beneath the deck railing for stability. It worked until one day when we got strong wind gusts (it's a 2nd story deck) and I saw the base had been pulled out and the umbrella looked like it was ready to launch. I ran to grab it and thought I was going to levitate like Mary Poppins! So now we have it secured - as was recommended on the instructions - with four patio blocks that fit in notches on the base. No issues at all since then. here's a pic of the base and one with it closed. Not too droopy, IMO...See Moregraywings123
