CL Dining Set in place - & LR set, too

I know it's been quite awhile, sorry to be so slow to post these. Here's the dining set in its new home.

Since we were paying movers anyway, I decided to look for some decent LR furniture on CL as well. This isn't last forever quality, but it's comfy and looks a zillion times better than what we had in here. The new-to-us pieces are the sofa, loveseat, chair & ottoman. We had the two chair & ottomans.

I haven't decorated any since these photos - just so pleased to have a pleasant room! there are a few more pics in this album. The last two show the room with the arrangement we usually have, complete with our ugly computer tables.

We've ordered new Ekornes recliners in place of the 2 chairs facing the TV. It will be 3 months before they're here, though. After looking at all the available colors for the chairs, we ended up with more cream - kinda funny considering we had planned on a color palette more like Elena07's beautiful rooms.

I never heard of American in Seattle. Many are going for the country look I don't think it will be going out of style anytime in the near future, hopefully we're making a come back as it is my personal favorite. As for the price it depends on the quality, if it is solid hardwood with no veneers, I would say $400 would be a fair price.

I Like #3 - "matchy, matchy" is what Nate Berkus calls furniture that is matched. He likes a room where there is nothing that "matches" another piece of furniture. I do too for the most part. Sometimes it's not practical but in your case, I think the reason #3 is more "striking" and elegant is that it isn't a precise match. #2 looks "dated" to me - like it belongs in an estate sale and not in a good way, in a way that indicates "it has seen its day". Though it may be that the china cabinet is enhancing the "dated" look. Sorry to mention Nate Berkus (on TV) so much but I like his style and he gives a tip to use a "chest of drawers" with nice arrangement on top as a replacement for a china cabinet. I think I agree on that one too. If you have a lot of china to store, not sure where that goes though. Always must be practical too of course but thought I'd mention the tip.

We bought ours new in late '70's and it even looked like the same gold fabric. I just pulled up one of our pics that shows the chairs, (recovered). Just gotta say, over the years we've served one heck of a lot of dinners there and the one thing I can remember is sitting and visiting after dinner. Those big chairs with the upholstered backs were so comfortable that nobody was anxious to move. (That's Thanksgiving leftover night judging by the serving containers and dog. I don't usually serve out of plastic. :))

Well, I bought it! It was truly stunning in person--the owners bought it at an estate sale about 12 years ago and had it completely refinished. The table has been protected with pads since they've owned it, and there was barely a scratch on it. The chairs are very comfortable--they were reupholstered as well. I do plan to have some linen box pleat skirted seat covers made. It comes with two 21" leaves, so it opens to over 90". Without the leaves it's 50" diameter, which is a good every day size for my room. It's definitely Baker Furniture--I saw the brass plate under the table top. I paid their full price--$1,300. They weren't open to offers. I found the same table (without chairs) on Ebay. It sold for $1,500. Mine appears in much better condition. I'm picking it up next Saturday. Just need to find a place to store it while we finish the remodel. Now I can start thinking about a chandelier--I'll be back asking for help with that Here is a link that might be useful: Same Table on Ebay

Awesome! The space is so fresh and open yet still cozy and looks like real people live there - not staged.

I think having a combined dining room and library is such a great idea and your new table and chairs look fantastic in there! Congrats on such great finds for the dining room and the LR.
