International Intrigue Sets the Pace in a U.S. Home
A world traveler finds a place to hang her hat and set her suitcase, in a home filled with collectibles from around the globe
A model home with great bones was not enough to completely win over this well-traveled homeowner looking to make roots. There was still something missing. The challenge presented to designer Olivia Nezey Westbrooks was to incorporate finds from the client's travels and give this new home in Atlanta old-world character.
As you tour the public areas of this home, notice how worldly collectibles breathe authenticity into each room. Each space flows into another as if crossing a country border, yet the look is cohesive and expresses the sentiments of the woman who lives here: that it's great to be home.

Working from a palette of warm neutrals, Westbrooks created a balanced look with a blend of old and new accents. The paprika-colored pillows are native to India, while the sofa and loveseat are retail U.S. purchases.
A low coffee table injects a hint of Eastern influence in an otherwise traditional space. A collection of globes emphasizes the homeowner's love of exploration.
The dining area is casually elegant. A highboy table is an unexpected find in a formal living space and gives a nod to easy entertaining.

Painted millwork gives the new carpentry a more established feel in this handsome library. An heirloom trunk–turned–coffee table also received special treatment: A refinishing job restored this sentimental piece to its original glory.
This multipurpose den and TV room boasts a hand-knotted Persian rug yet has a lodge feel courtesy of the antler chandelier.
