Do you have a California King Bed?

I am wanting to get a down comforter for our bed. Right now we have a CK bedspread that I totally hate. I've looked at one website and at Penney's but only find King size down comforters. I love our CK size bed, but sometimes I hate finding bedding for it.

We have a California King bed and finding sheets, blankets and quilts is tough. The best place I have been able to find things is QVC and the quality is great.

I have a CK. No problem finding bedding..... I live in California.

Sorry, but thought you should know that 2 twinXL actually make a king size. Just a FYI California king measures 6' X 85". Where as a king is 6'6" X 80". The measurement of a twin XL is 3'3" X 80". For the Adj. bases check out Restava.com web site they have adj. bases the would be easy to slide apart. Hope this has helped.

I forgot to add ONE HUGE DETAIL!!! The mattress height from the top of the mattress to the floor is 29" with a steel frame that is 8" from the floor. Boxspring is 9", mattress is 12." So the bottom of the bottom of the mattress sits 8" from the floor. Most complete beds with a head and footboard are 10+" from the bottom of the boxspring. I would be adding at least two additionalinches to the bed height! That is my DILEMMA! This is what happens when I peruse the forum prior to having my morning coffee!!! Sorry I inadvertently left out this big detail. That is the reason I do not think I can use a foot-board. I don't want a step stool (or ladder -haha) to get into the bed! I know the style of bed I want, but the challenges lies in trying to find that bed with a frame that is less than 10" from the floor.

Do you have a platform bed?

I've had the same platform bed for at least 20 years, and with the last mattress that I bought, the height of the mattress is 26-1/2", which is higher than I would like, but it does make it easier for me to use the night stand, which is 29" high. My current mattress is 14" high, and I believe my previous one was 10" high, bringing the height down to 22-1/2", which I felt was more ideal. Benches are frequently 18" high, and they are supposed to be lower than beds, if you have one at the end of the bed.

Write "down comforter for California King bed" into Google and you will come up with places to buy it. Be prepared to spend.

I got a nice one at Pottery Barn - but it was a duvet cover and I had the down comforter. I had really good luck at TJ Maxx in getting sheets without spending a fortune.

We just use a standard King comforter. Look for waterbed sheets/covers. A waterbed is the same size as a CA king.

I agree that QVC is a great place to find bedding for a California King.

I'm surprised you are having trouble finding them at Penney's, that is where I get most of my bedding and we have a CA King. And as already mentioned, QVC and another is Spiegel's.

CA King waterbed here. Could never find a good blanket for it so I knitted an afghan. Took me forever but I love it.

In Hawaii it's almost impossible to find anything OTHER than California King linens. We have a European King: almost square; it's the same as two extra long twins together. I have to shop on the mainland for linens.

It's hard to find just a bedspread of any size other than chenille. Everything is a 'comforter'. In hot climates, the last thing you want is big hot comforter!

chisue -- it's been a while since I checked, but I think the Vermont Country Store has seersucker or gingham bedspreads. They should be cool enough for Hawaii. :-)

Lands' End has both King and California King items.

We have one and are going to switch to a Standard King.

California King bedding is readily available in the West but if you read the fine print the measurements for both Cal King and Regular King bedding are exactly the same except for the fitted bottom sheet. Top sheets and most (not all blankets) are a bit too short for tucking in or a nice drape.

So we decided since tall DH sleeps curled up anyway and we don't spend a lot of the same hours bed anyway we will sacrifice a few inches in length for a few extra inches in width. That may give us a better tucked top sheet along with more room for the beasts.

lindsey_ca -- Thanks for the Land's End tip. The 'country look' isn't what I'm looking for in Hawaii (Vermont Country Store idea).

I've been surprised that retailers sell so many heavy comforters w/bedskirts. I priced a custom king sized bedspread and nearly fainted! LOL This is for a condo in a vacation rental pool, so I'd like something durable and washable.

I have a CK bed that used to be a water bed. Even with the water bed mattress, I used reg. king sheets with the bottom sheet turned side ways. For a comforter, I used a queen size that fit tucked into the water bed mattress sides. Now I have temper pedic mattress on the same bed frame. I still use the reg king sheets with the bottom sideways. I use the king size quilt I made for the water bed as my spread/comforter.

Yes, but I also live in CA. However for some good bargains and lightweight covers try Restoration Hardware's site. They've got some awesome linen sales, definitely check under SALE on the site.
