It took me forever to decide on the lights over my island. I originally bought some bell shaped pendants but decided they were too generic looking and I didn't want to deal with the bugs and dust inside. I have low ceilings so I finally decided on some semi-flush mounted fixtures from Restoration Hardware. They're 9 inches in diameter and there will be 3 of them over my 12 foot long island. Still need to find something for over my kitchen sink ... >.

gemcap - It has a lacquered finish, but unfortunately, over the years it has become scratched. That's one reason why I have the books on the end. ;) I would love to know how to repair the table. I tried some car wax as was recommended from someone. it made the table shine more, but did not fix the scratches. sheesharee's ottoman reminded me of the ottoman/coffee table that I have in my study.

Hi pps - It is the small RH industrial table. I've had my eye on it for awhile but DH said he'd make one for me (he's great at welding). He's always busy with house projects though and I happened to see this while shopping at the outlets so it came home with me. I lucked out - less than half price after their 20% sale and no damage at all! I like the size of the side table but don't want matching pieces so I'm still looking for one of those. anna - love the "tail of death" phrase!
