Show me your breakfast room table

I feel like I wasted a day with a CL table. Just got new chairs, so of course old table looks bad. It's an old circa 80s oak. Problem is it's plain, sturdy, functional, seats 8, and has a custom glass top so it's easy to clean.

So I went to see a CL table --about 45 min. from my house, near DDs workplace. Only $250, nice color, matches new chairs, great size. Would have bought it but could only get a helper with a truck during the time the CL person was gone (hate that with CL purchases!)

So--should I try to buy tomorrow or just paint mine? Thinking dark. Is there any sort of paint that you can wipe off and look satiny? Cause we eat on this table all the time.

Now this table I want to buy--not sure how the dark stain will hold up with daily use--anybody have any experience? As much as I'm sick of the old table I'm having trouble giving up the glass top.
