PC making a lot of noise tonite?
Comments (4)Without hearing your computer, it is very difficult to pin down your specific problem. You are in the best position to locate the source of the noise. However, I can make a good guess by your description. My guess is is a fan with a dry bearing. Possible locations of fans: 1. on the processor 2. in the power supply 3. Cabinet intake fan 3. Cabinet exhaust fan. In a pinch, I have sucessfully relubbed these fans to get a few more hours out of them and give me time to get replacements. However, if you are not comfortable with prying up labels and re-applying these.,best to not bother with lubrication and simply replace the fan. If it is the processor fan, replace it right away. If the noise is coming from a hard drive (and it did make this noise before) shut down and get another drive right away. Increased noise from a hard drive most often signals a failure is developing. Do not confuse the noise from a spinning disk with the noise a read/write head makes when it is hard at work jumping from track to track....See MoreRate the noise of your oven's cooling fan!
Comments (26)Chiming in here, since I'm looking for ovens and am considering Dacor, DCS, and Thermador in the 27". Everything is a tradeoff -- but I, too, want a quiet fan. My current exhaust fan on my upper oven OTR is a horror - it goes on by itself when I am using the upper oven and stays on forever. I only use that oven in emergencies, as a result. I have an old one-piece, 2 oven range that they don't make any more Thank goodness!...See MoreFurnace making weird noises
Comments (4)Did your weather suddenly turn colder 2-3 weeks ago? If so, the night time temperature in your condo may be falling further that it was before. Most modern automatic thermostats employ an anticipation feature. If you program the thermostat to warm up the house to 70 degrees at 7:00 AM, it will cycle on and off before that time so that by 7:00 AM, the temperature is at 70 degrees. As the weather gets colder, the anticipation feature needs to kick in earlier and earlier so that your desired temperature is reached by the time you've programmed. Many automatic thermostats will allow you to turn off the anticipation feature. Your thermostat owner's manual will tell you how. Once you've turned anticipation feature off, the heat won't come on until the time you've programmed....See MoreDo your windows make noise when they get cold?
Comments (3)Glass does flex. It's supposed to. But, it doesn't pop and crack. I think it's probably the arched casing trim that is expanding/contracting that causes this sound. Michael...See Morewooderlander
