Here are all the pics from our indoor remodel. Demo day #1 was on 1/14 of this year for the inside.

I've been a lurker for a LONG time and thought that it was time I came out from hiding. :) You have all helped me in so many ways. I hope that my pics might help someone else in some small way.

Tomorrow is our granite install and we can see the light at the end of the tunnel at last!

Mark - No, I have not planted the ragoon creeper yet. I haven't quite figured out where I want to put it. The other plant that you gave me that produces clusters of blue flowers is sending up a couple more flower stalks. This plant reminds me of a super dwarf Lily-of-the--Nile. Besides, I have been spending a LOT of time working in the vegetable garden. I will post pics of that in the near future. Anna - Thank you very much for the compliments. I do enjoy strong colors too. I find colorful foliage easier to deal with in the hot summer...no deadheading. Actually I have another planted area that I could show you but it's not quite as eye catching. Are the undulations so bad that you can't minimize them by striking a chalk line on the wall and painting wall color up to that, painting ceiling color above it? That would be my first choice, so that room isn't the only one with a non-white ceiling. Second choice would be to paint the ceiling the same (or 1 shade lighter) color as the walls, but don't do crown molding if you don't think it could be caulked and made to look straight - it'll just accentuate the bumpiness. I'd also patch the cracks again before painting, even if the patch doesn't last more than a year. Anyone buying an old building will know they'll have to deal with these issues, let them know what you would have done if you had stayed, as far as membraning and decorating, I'm sure they'll appreciate your expertise but if they push you to do the work before closing your realtor will have to negotiate that. As far as the firebox, I'd need a pic to decide, but as a buyer looking at a historical building, I'd want to know the original detail was there, but realistically may not get around to restoring it right away so if there was anything you could do to make it look "finished" without compromising it, or making it horribly difficult/expensive to undo, I'd appreciate that. Is it an actual "hole" around the firebox?

i'm being weaned off my meds, been on them for 10 years, this is the last 3 months i'll get, I'm freaking out as I was LITERALLY homicidal, trying to take 1/2 dose for 1 mo, not working, haven't slept for 1 mo. i'm irritable like crazy, can't even stand myself anymore. So i went back to taking full dose which there's maybe 2 months left. I'm searching for HELP. I have all the symptoms STRONG. For me the worst part of seeing all those new, poorly planned kitchens is when you hear afterwards that they ripped the whole thing out. What a waste! A few years ago a house was for sale for an absurd amount and it was a spec home built by a builder who clearly had no idea about the tastes and the styles of people in this area. The house sat on the market for a long time (by our RE standards), and it was on one of the best streets in town. When it was sold, at a HUGE discount from the original listing price, I found out that the owners ripped out the kitchen and all of the bathrooms--brand spanking new! Admittedly, I too would have done the same. The kitchen was poorly designed and the choices that they made were not pretty (peach marble for the bathrooms). It was awful that all that material went to waste. I love to troll the RE listings and think about how I would change things! I think it's one of the perks of being a GW "student"....we've learned so much from eachother :) I am currently in a crazy rental with black lacquered counters (yes wood that has been black lacquered!), and I always wonder what the original owners were thinking!!!

I have never used snapfish but somewhere on there you probably have to share the album or make it public.

dorothy, I am astonished at how quickly your project is going! That is so exciting. I lovelovelove the beautiful, undulating shapes of your backsplash (behind the cooktop and the sink) -- what a lovely, thoughtful detail. I am really excited about seeing it in! Please don't forget to post pictures .... (and your kids are cute, too!)

Wow! You work fast! Your kitchen and the rest of the remodel looks amazing. So fun to see the progress step by step.

I feel like we are working on the same house. From your pictures it looks like we are doing similar projects. We have been working on a remodel since mid November and I'm ready to finally move in. A few more weeks.

Thanks for sharing. You clearly have been working hard and must have been very organized.

rmkitchen - Thank you for your nice words! :) I found the backsplash idea in a magazine and cannot wait to see the pieces in place. I didn't want to do a tile backsplash or full granite - this seemed to be a happy medium. The builders have been working very quickly and the disruption to our routine has been minimal. This Thursday marks the 4 week mark and we are almost done! Wahoo!!

pdxgal - Thank you! It really is a facelift to the whole house. It feels brand new to us. Builder keeps saying it's our old house on steroids. Would love to see your pics. Let me know if they are online.

Dorothy - You will probably think this is weird but your comment "Curse Snapfish" makes me laugh everytime I think of it. It just seems to summarize my frustration with all things technical. It may become my calming mantra when I am experiencing "technical difficulties". I think there is much research supporting the fact that laughter extends your life expectancy so wanted you to know your comment added a few days to mine! :-)
