clean lines in doorways between rooms?

My living room has an "uncased" doorway into my kitchen. The kitchen wall will be one color and the living room wall will be a different color. And I want the doorway in between to be white. The doorway is about 6 inches of drywall. The problem is I am having a heck of a time getting clean lines. For example if I use a roller with the brown paint on the living room wall it sort of seeps onto the doorway wall slightly and then if I try to cover it painting the doorway with the white it seeps onto the living room wall a bit. If I use a bush instead of a roller to cut in, then corner line isn't straight at all. Sorry so long...but does anyone have any ideas on how I can get this right ??? It is making me so crazy I want to go back to having every wall white - it was so much easier!!!
