my uncle passed away this morning....

He had just been moved about 10 days ago from an alzheimers care facility (they can't stay there if they are not able to walk) into a nursing home. He had been getting very belligerent for the past few years and my aunt was forced to put him into care. This was so out of character, he's normally very kind and soft spoken. He is my Mom's only brother, she (Mom) also has advanced alzheimers and has been in a nursing home for 3 1/2 years is down to 80 pounds and seldom talks. I hate this disease and all it does to a person and yet I see that it is coming my way since my Grandma also suffered from it....she too became belligerent like my uncle (her son). I feel so sorry for my aunt, they lost their only daughter to cancer when she was 20 (32 years ago) so now she is all alone. She's in her late 80's still drives and lives at home, very alert. She and Mom became best friends when they were teaching in the same school. Mom told her about her brother who was in Korea, they became pen pals and married when he got out of the service. He received a purple heart while serving in Korea. I know his death is a blessing because he was not the man we knew but I just feel so bad for her.
