I hate windy conditions, they are so damaging. I don't mind rain or snowstorms if I don't have to go anywhere.

Being fairly new to the midwest, I love the thunderstorms and tornado warnings. I have an unfinished basement so I get all prepared with my chair, radio, dog leash and cat carrier and my purse and cell phone. I get myself psyched to grab the furbabies and head for the "storm cellar" when the tornado sirens go off. I just wish I had a finished basement with a bedroom so I could sleep there during bad weather.

I too enjoy a good storm. Ever since I was a kid I've been in awe of the power of nature and tornadoes are pretty much the ultimate in my book. I've been very close to tornadoes a few times in my life but never actually seen one. Would love to go out with storm chasers and track some 'noes. I'm a semi-amateur weather prognosticator and tend to go by my forecasts over the news stations for a lot of things. During serious weather conditions, I'll usually be found hunkered down with my weather-alert, occasionally more than on tv station on and the computer on the internet to get the radar views and conditions. A weather-nut friend and I used to have a friendly competition going during storms. We'd be on the phone back and forth with our predictions and see who was more accurate. I think he finally conceded defeat! ;) OK, OK...

As long as you show the proper respect, weather can be fun. I have a cat who is infatuated with lightning. She'll stare out the window at it. Yes, not a good idea, I know, but....

same here. we have several very tall trees around us, and no basement...the interior hall sucks!

Well, we got the cold, rain, thunder.. and I just came in from outside covering up plants. My yard looks a mess. All kinds of buckets and containers turned over plants.

Thank goodness I own GREAT rain gear due to my bicycle tours. I stayed dry. Had to take the stuff off in the garage, cause I was dripping so much.

I would much prefer if it had stayed above 40 degrees, and the forecast would be like that as well.

Oh, well, life goes on.

I don't like high winds, do have a good place to go if a tornado is around though.

I love stormy weather. Love the thunderstorms that we have. Of course I wouldn't like it if it caused damage.

I don't mind a wild thunderstorm with lightning, which we had when I lived on the East Coast or the Midwest. I don't like the strong wind storms we can get here which has uprooted trees and ripped the panels off my greenhouse. I get a little nervous when we have those.

Even though we have a ton of snow and expect more, I am sure we too will be experiencing this windy hot weather sooner than I want to. that is why I have a basement.

Sure do! We were under tornado warnings, watches, hail, high winds until 2:30 this morning for the second time this week. We have lots & lots of huge trees too.

I keep my regular clothes on (if we're blown away I don't wanna be found in my night gown,)weather radio on and powerful flashlight beside me. Stay on high alert in case I need to get DH to a safe place.

We have a storm cellar but DH is too crippled to get down the steps. He once quipped he could slide down on a wide board but I'd have to haul him out with the lawn tractor.

I don't mind changeable weather, but I do draw the line at hazardous conidtion such as winds exceeding 60 mph, tornadoes, large hail, and cloud-to-ground lightening strikes. 30yrs ago, had a near miss of a tornado; 10yr ago, lost a couple of shingles in a wind storm; 2 yr ago, got some hail damage mostly to a vehicle.

I do have a basement to go to and what I think is a safe location in the basement which is under a heavy duty work bench. Not all basements are safe havens in a tornado.
All you have to do is to tour the country side after a storm has passed through and review structural damage to see the aftermath. If a big load of debris gets dumped into a basement, many areas of it are not safe.

Large trees are not safe in a wind storm - they blow over or break. One survival manual teaches that a sapling up to 4 inch diameter is more likely to survive a wind storm.

I hate it, too. We've lost 5 trees since Ike--2 on our house and one that tore all the electric, phone, and cable lines down. I sat today and watched a very tall pine tree bending in the wind and thought any minute it would snap off and fall. Yeah, I hate it too. Where is spring? It's going to freeze here tonight. My DH is out covering up stuff at this moment. Dang!! It's the end of March and this is Texas!!

I don't mind it a little interesting, but I prefer that it stays just this side of dangerous. I love to watch lighting. I get disappointed when the storms just miss us... like they did today. We got rain and some wind gusts, but nothing serious. Today I was glad of that, really, because I was out and about.

We don't have a basement either. I grew up in Ohio and as a young child was affected by tornadoes three times. I have vivid memories of being carried from our mobile home by a fireman down a hill and under the bridge of train tracks. When we came back, most of the homes on our street of the mobile home park were turned upside down. Ours was the only one standing! I was maybe 5 y/o. Still, it doesn't scare me. The opposite, I take it in stride.

We had a friend of DS's spend the night once when the tornado siren went off. In the blink of an eye he was in the back of our coat closet in a ball, while the rest of us were just waiting and watching the news. We didn't even realize it, just looked around wondering where he went. Oh, it was too funny! He was 13! We were laughing so hard we had tears in our eyes! Never let him forget it. It's still funny to think about. He is a big, strong kid, too. Football and baseball player... the kind who's not afraid of anything. LOL!

I live in lower Michigan and have all my life and I know the weather here is wait 5 minutes and it will change but as you get older you begin to hate the long drawn out time it takes to Finally get nice here. Don't get me wrong the weather (summer that is) is great here when it is nice but it takes sooo long to get there and they talk about cabin fever, you have got to be kidding that is a major illness in our family. I like to ride MC and patients is something I don't have much of. My beef with Michigan weather is that when it's supposed to be spring like weather etc. then get on with it not do this snow, cold, snow, cold then more cold and then the lovely threat of a snow storm could still come.It's ridiculous when other states are starting to really enjoy spring and getting some really decent weather because basically winter is over it had it's turn we are still in the keep the doors and windows closed because the big question mark what's it going to do out there today?

I like thunder and lightning when I'm safe at home in my bed. I like snow if I'm home and don't have to go out, and have lots of food and good TV to watch.
