Taking the liberty to post the picture so others can see it more readily. It sure would add some glam to a closet. It has good reviews.
I'm too frugal to spend that much on a closet light and my closet is not worthy of such a nice fixture. But I say go for it. You will love going into closet with that beautiful light in there.

Badgergal-thank you for posting the picture. I agree about the price. I don't mind spending that on a fixture that is in a main living area, but a closet is hard to justify.

DH is building a walk-in closet, just for me (!), and we bought a blingy, sparkly, contemporary looking light fixture for it (soon I'll get to see it installed!!!). I am normally not into that sort of thing (we have recessed lighting throughout our house), but this place, GW, has seriously rubbed off on me! I saw all the pretty, girly lights at the lighting store, and just couldn't get a basic, utilitarian just stick it up on the ceiling light fixtures after seeing those.

I say, if you can afford the splurge, go for it. It'll make you smile every time you look up and see it!

Reminds me of the light in my bathroom of the Waldorf Astoria in Chicago. The joys of work road trips.

KevinMP-- Thanks for the link. That is one beautiful bathroom. I especially liked the floor design. I saw a similar ceiling light but it was even more expensive than the one I posted.

Go for the bling. I'm doing a deep purple walk-in-closet with a bling-y chandelier. It's a private space, do what makes you happy.

LOVE James R. Moder. We have some JRM fixtures in our kitchen (chandies) and they sparkle like no other.

I searched eBay and got antique 1920's art deco fixtures for all of our closets and they make me smile every time I go in.

I have one exactly like that stored in a closet somewhere from a house long ago and I am going to take it out and put it in my bedroom closet. I had totally forgotten about it. I always loved it.

I like it. Two might not look as good as one, depending on the size of the closet. You could also do some recessed ceiling lights for daylight bulbs In addition to the light(s) if you have a mirror in the closet and want to see what you really look like. We installed a chandelier in our closet (a simple 5 light painted iron, no bling) and went back to put in a few can lights in the ceiling for more-- and a different type--- of lighting. Love the fixture!

In my area, closets have building code requirements as far as lighting goes. I encourage you to learn your area's requirements before you finalize lighting choices.

I'm a form follows function person, so I told the electrician to put in big a$$ lighting in my closet so I can see the difference between black and navy...he did. Not attractive, but utilitarian.

Outside my closet is my make up nook where I put in a crystal fixture very similar to the one you posted....

I have a VERY similar light in my entry hall! It HAD a very blingy faux victorian that everyone taller than me hit their head on when they came in....but I got addicted to the bling, and had to keep watching for the right one, and it was at Lowe's!!!

Code on closet lights is no uncovered bulbs (i.e. those candle lamp chandies w/o shades). We hung up one in a guest room closet and had to buy shades for it.

autumncolor5--I will! DH is close to finishing up his work on the closet. We will then prime and paint, and we are scheduled to have my ELFA system installed in a couple of weeks (FYI--annual ELFA sale ends Tuesday!).

I'm guessing the last thing that goes in will be the light fixture (wouldn't want to risk damage to it while the tracks, shelving, and clothing rods are being installed).

I really like the one you posted, too! There were a couple others I considered, but the one I ended up choosing (blingy and girly though it may be!) seemed like it was still understated enough to work with my closet size and style (metal shelving, contemporary look).

Luckily I have a very sweet and sometimes very indulgent DH, who "got it" even though he couldn't quite understand why I was so drawn to "all the pretty, sparkly light fixtures!!"

I wanted to update everyone. Thanks for all your replies. I order two of the James R. Moder fixtures on Mon. I found a coupon for $30 off so that helped.

geokid--I realy like deep purple. A sparkly light would be so pretty.

beaglesdoitbetter--thanks for the links. I really liked the Elisa one your posted. It looked almost identical to the James Moder one and the price was good but there was something about the James Moder one I kept come back to. Your comment, "they sparkle like no other" made my decision even easier.

patricia43--glad you like the fixture. It's also good to hear from someone who has it. Enjoy it in your closet.

kswl--I like your idea of using recessed lights. Never thought of that. At least they could be added down the road. The ceiling is wired for two lights and there is a window in there. The closet is good sized, 12'10" x 14.5 so I hope two lights don't look like too much yet give off enough light.

jmc01--I checked and it's no problem.

Annie--Each light takes (3) 40 watt bulbs so I hope its bright enough.

Springroz--I can see why you got addicted!
