I can't stand the new Geico commercials. Geico had great ads, but now this "Well did you know â¦. " campaign is just stupid, imo.

I agree with all of the above...Where in the world do they come up with these things? I think the ones that really get me are the ones with the couples that just look in each other's eyes and then the ad ends with the 2 bath tubs on the beach....Weird.......
But, just coming back from Florida, there is a car dealer that advertises ALL the time and ends his commercials with "It's HUGE".....I couldn't/wouldn't buy a car from him if it was almost free...He is so annoying......

When did commercials get to start being 10 minutes long? ASPCA, Proactive, Feed the Children (or something like that)? It's ridiculous that we're paying about 150.00 a month for TV and a 60 minute show is on "pause" for 40 minutes so I can skip through commercials.

Doug died years ago. People with Meso have a life expectancy of less than a year. That ad bothers me a lot, since we lost a dear cousin to that nasty disease.

I agree with everything already said, but I especially hate that "Hoppa" one.

This is why I stick to DVRing and Netflix. Very little tolerance for being bombarded with commercials.

If I'm watching tv I try to make sure that I'm doing something during the commercials - a crossword, laundry, get ready for bed, whatever. I do wonder who watches and actually pays attention to and is persuaded by commercials. Not me.

I'd like to see a law preventing all commercials for prescription meds. I'm sick of being told to, "Ask your doctor." If my MD thinks I need medication he will tell me. No other first world country allows this

Would you believe I actually saw a commercial for a ring you wear to bed at night to stop snoriing. I laughed when I saw this. Who in their right mind would pay $10 for a ring you wear to stop snoring? Not only that but they'll send you 2 rings for the price of one. lol. What a joke. I know, there's a sucker born every minute. I also can't stand Flo and all the white in her commercials. I usually mute all commercials.

That one with the bears and toilet paper, ugh. Anything to do with erectile dysfunction or women wetting their pants.

...or the one where she is asking who has bowel trouble....I think I'd slap her one. Some of the local ones are very irritating, such as the furniture store ad on the Fargo stations.......dad is yapping about their furniture, and then his daughter, and then they are yelling together. Swat those two!!

The prescription meds ones where it seems a full minute or more is spent telling you all the side effects. Yes, and the one with the couple in twin tubs at the beach....twin tubs...who has those?....and at the beach? Ridiculous!

Most commercials are pretty bad....if only I had the foresight to get into advertising..maybe would have made a fortune having no or mediocre talent...lol!

Yes! The bears with the toilet paper. If you have toilet paper stuck to your behind, you need to go back and do a better job of wiping, LOL. How is that a GOOD advertisement for your toilet paper?

Here in Ontario there is a commercial for a grocery store that sells their own clothing line there are not words for how much I dislike their commercials they are loud even more than regular commercials and high pitched. I would never buy their stuff anyway there was a scandal a while back about their stuff and child labor that I remember plus annoying commercials complete fail. The other thing that bugs me is the repetition, I can see the same commercial ten times during one show- usually a weight loss. I wind up tuning out and surf the net instead.

Why discriminate......ALL of them. Hope those high paid people who think of them get in the waiting line for unemployment. Then they can sit home, watch TV, and see what idiots they are.

I don't need to see nearly naked women undressing while they eat a sandwich. And the ?? is it Jimmy Johns?? that has the girl answering the door wrapped in a towel.......that she drops?? Back in the day, I'm told that's how porno films began.

About those bathtubs. . . For a long time I wasn't really sure what they were. Why show two people sitting in bathtubs? Maybe I'm wrong - no, they sure look like bathtubs. . .

I guess the whole idea behind awful commericals is that they DO get you attention, and that's their aim. I do remember the very first truly bad commerical I saw more than 50 years ago. I could even tell you now the dealership in Cleveland it was for. Guess they got their point across.

I agree with the criticism of the hopper. By the time it's over I want to scream, sometimes I change the channel.

On my local TV there is a young woman who does ads for a local car dealer. Her voice is so screechy I have to mute it.

We prefer to tape a show and start watching it later so we can skip the commercials.

I had some dear friends back in coastal South Carolina who owned several acres and a lovely little cottage along a beautiful salt water river and marshland. The sunsets were breathtaking. They didn't have two bathtubs, but one big one...perfect for two on a sultry summer evening. They were my neighbors.

You people have no sense of romance!! Lol.

Mostly I save, and watch later, when I can scoot through the commercials. There is one though that makes me laugh, so I watch it every time. I don't even know what they are advertising. A man is juggling chain saws or something. Then a man comes up and watches and says to the juggler "Gimme one, gimme one, just one." When it comes on, I just have to watch it. It cracks me up.

The Charmin bears are stupid, but I do buy Charmin, always.

The one I hate the most at the moment advertises shoes and is full of SCREAMING women. Yes, bad commercials will make me remember a product..... it makes me remember to NOT buy it! :)

Re those disgusting Charmin ads, I recall when their first ad like that came out years and years ago! I was so disgusted that I contacted Charmin and told them. They rebutted, so I responded again and told them I was going to contact the Saturday Night Live folks along with my specific suggestions on where they could go with the Charmin ad. To my amazement, the ads were immediately pulled! Unfortunately, they apparently just shelved them for more than 10 years and that's why we're suffering with them again now. :p

I have to agree with all of the above, although "HUGE" car dealer donates a lot locally. I watched 2 movies on the Hallmark Movie Channel last night. Can't count the number of commercials.

How about the "Mom, I went poo poo" - mom is all excited until she finds he went in (looks like) the tub. Clorox commercial. I say if he's old enough to talk that clearly and the size of the child, he should know betterâ¦â¦..

Hmm...isn't "Mad Men" about to resume with Season 7? That's the history of these obnoxious ads. After getting his mastter's in journalism, my DH spent a few years in radio and advertising before he realized he couldn't keep up with the manic behaviors or the alcohol consumption. He found a home in corporate -- but had at least three (known) alcoholic bosses over the years. Two became suicides; one joined AA.

I haven't seen most of these, but I've definitely seen (and HEARD) the "Hoppa." I watch Jeopardy every night, and that commercial runs more than once. So annoying. I didn't understand the one they had before this one....the guy with the baseball bat, getting ready to hit one of his friends/relatives over the head. Huh?

Another one I find annoying is "Bob" sitting at a table with his wife and talking about his new blood thinner, Eliquis. He sounds so phony and full of himself, and there's no one sitting across from him, so who is he talking to?

And I had to laugh at the commercial where the woman says, "I've had it with my moderate-to-severe psoriasis." Who would word it like that?

At the moment I hate the Hefty commercial with the hunks in the tight t-shirts and the one "hefty" young man.
I get the attempt at humor...just don't like it.

I see one on line that I cannot believe. Clearly written by someone who does not have children -- or a man. It is for Bounty paper towels. The toddler is blowing bubbles into his chocolate drink with a straw, While the chocolate is bubbling over and dripping onto the floor in great volume, the baby and mother find it delightful as mom reaches for a paper towel. The next scene is the baby has learned to do the same thing, and this mom finds that delightful too. That mom clearly is off her rocker. She escaped from somewhere, and they need to come and get her and help her.

I hate the Flo Progressive commercials. They used to be kind of cute but they have gotten just awful. I can't stand to watch them.

I can't stand all the prescription commercials either. By the time they are done reading off the list of side effects, who would want to take that medication anyway.

Regarding the bear and the toilet paper ...

... remember a couple of years ago that someone showed a comic illustration of a bear and a bunny, where we saw a rear view of both while they were going poo ...

... and the bear asks the bunny whether it bothers him (I imagine they're both "him"s) when he gets poo on his fur, and but bunny says, "No" ...

... so the bear grabs the bunny and uses him the fulfill the toilet paper function??

What mainly gets to me about the inane commercials is that they can't wait ten minutes to play the same one over again.

Plus ... I agree: when you find one *really* annoying ... write the sponsor to share your thoughts with them.

Sue, I just saw it last night--it had been quite some time since I'd seen it--and I laughed and laughed.

I can't stand the one with the woman with the British accent hawking behind wipes for adults. And the Pure Romance ads advising women to "take back the bedroom." Ugh.

No one has mentioned the numerous ads for 'ambulance chasers' aka the attorneys who promise to get you beaucoup bucks for being in an accident. These are the same types of ads for the attorneys who will get your Social Security disability claims settled for you.

Besides the attorneys sounding like sleeze-balls, the supposed claimants always look like they should be put away somewhere. Always loud and obnoxious.

How could I forget "IT'S MY MONEY AND I WANT IT NOW!" commercials. Had a few clients call the 800 number trying to get an advance on their settlement. Those places were relentless in harassing our office for documentation on cases they had no intention of loaning money on in the first place.

How about the 2 dorky guys at Sonic? I like Sonic, but I hate their commercials.

Have you seen the new Hopper commercial--the one with the (stuffed) kangaroo in an office cubicle? I actually enjoy it. The actor and the roo's voice are entertaining. So much better than that loudmouthed family.

Luckily they've stopped playing them but my least favorite commercials ever were for the bratty kid hawking the Toyota Highlander. Even if I needed a huge car, I'd never get a Toyota, just because of those commercials.
