Finally at backsplash stage!!

It's not done yet but I know you will all understand my excitement!!

After an almost 6 month long total DIY reno (kitchen isn't all that big but we both worked full-time and trained for and ran a marathon during the reno process)...we did all the work ourselves with the exception of the granite......hubby is getting all the pre-work done to begin backsplash installation!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The last month or so has been finishing touches and it took almost 2 months to find a backsplash we both liked and agreed upon.

Within a week or so I will have finished photos of my formerly golden oak/laminate turned white/uba tuba kitchen!!!

Happy dance being done here!!

Wow! Congrats! Your time frame is impressive. Don't apologize for that. I won't tell you how long ago we demoed and what little work has been done.

I can't wait to see it all done! Pics as soon as possible please.

The only thing we did was replace counters and paint, and I still haven't posted photos yet. We started in August :( I keep waiting for my UCL to get installed, which hopefully will be next weekend. And then there's my range (electric coil) that will eventually be replaced with induction - but that may be another year!
No, don't apologize. We're here waiting for whenever you get them posted! It sounds wonderful!

Thank you for your kind words...it is definitely a GW heavily influenced kitchen. :) I did my best with what I had for layout, etc.. It's more than I could have imagined it could be, almost like it's somebody else kitchen. I am so excited to see that crackle/polished/glossy wasn't vetoed. I have admired others for a while but wasn't sure it would work. It seems soft yet, not busy really. linelle-I've followed your backsplash posts (such a nice calming tile and matches your kitchen perfectly) and the lippage you feel could have been avoided at install. We are DIYing it so I'm a little scared about that. We've laid our fair share of tile but....that is right up front and center, know what I mean. Does it come on a mesh do you know? elizabeth-you cannot post a color name like 'wicked white' without sharing a pic! If you have any I'd love to see it. Your perimeter looks so much like mine. I really like the muted look of the leathered. So do you all think I should try to match the cabinet white? Not go with a soft neutral in the gray or taupish family? Thanks again for your input and sharing others that are similar to mine.

Thank you everyone! I'm so happy to have found this cream....after looking at so many different ones! Here is the info: From the sample board.... Manhatten Series MN11/B36 Cream 3X6 beveled edge Best yet, the price is just $4.68 per sq foot! Honestly, I've been looking at tiles that range from $6-$31 per square foot. To think that my very favorite is under $5 really amazes (and delights!) me! I can't wait to post photos of the finished project....right now I have to order more switchplate covers!

Thanks for all the kind words everyone!!! We had a SUPER limited budget but we managed to do it because we did everything on our own and saved on labor! Bobbie, actually our fridge is MASSIVE!! We only have two inches clearance away from the doorway and the door opens fine just not all the way. But we had to work with the space we had. Our fridge is the LG LFX31945ST so you can check out the specs...counter depth of course would have been ideal but we desperately need a huge fridge. Thanks again everyone for the compliments and kind words...we had a lot of issues with this kitchen but hearing so many nice comments makes my husband and I feel really validated!

what an awesome feeling that must be!! Don't forget the holidays were in there too so I;m sure that didn't help things either. We're just about to enter month #4 of our DIY reno (we had the cabinets made and installed and the granite is getting installed professionally, other then that it's a total DIY project too).

I can honestly say that there is no way we'd be this far along if we were also training for a marathon too, kudos to you! I can't wait to see your finished pictures!

Thanks everyone! I almost forgot about Christmas!LOL

Our son came home from university for 10 days and brought a friend, I ended up in the E.R. on Dec 16th with female problems......so we had about 3 weeks where nothing was done on the kitchen at all.....so I guess all in all we're not doing too badly!!
