Wow, araminty. I have the color one darker than Rice Grain, Ramie, in my living room, and I used SW Quietude in my master, which is very close to Palladian Blue but just a tad darker. I think they go together wonderfully. Rice Grain has a green undertone that I love. I find my Ramie walls to be creamy golden green and they are beautiful. Works wonderfully with the blue greens. If it wasn't such a large ceiling area, I would love to have Palladian Blue ceilings in there.

Concerning the green in Palladian-- I think that is the biggest asset of the color. That green makes Palladian what I call a "warm blue". It prevents the blue from going too pastel or baby blue and makes it so much deeper and interesting. I find when you get the whole wall or ceiling painted, the green dies back a tad.

Putting the Palladium Blue on the walls vs. the ceiling would definitely pop against the beadboard, more so than a color that is lighter than Rice Grain. Any particular reason why you chose to put the blue on the ceiling? If it's not too much trouble to post some pictures, I'd love to see what you've done so far, and hear more about what you have planned.

Thanks so much! I'm attaching photos: one is the "before" shot which will prove that this room needs a major facelift.(In the before shot you see Rice Grain sampled on the walls, but under electric lights, so it's not a great rendition.) Another is the fabric that I'm thinking of using as a shower curtain. Maybe. The other is the Palladian blue ceiling--please excuse the horrendous light/fan fixture--to give you some idea of how it is looking in natural light.

Jimoba--you can see how much work there is to be done! We'll be ripping out everything except the shower, and the flooring will be replaced, too. I'm standing at the doorway in this photo, and you can see that there's a window on the left--so it does get some very nice natural light during the day.

Anyhow, any further thoughts would be *greatly* appreciated! Thanks very much!

I love the fabric you picked for the shower curtain! It's got a nice combo of colors, and the pattern is soft without being too delicate. As for the walls, I'd go with the Palladium Blue, or, as pps7 suggested, a rich tan like the darker tone in the fabric, since it would offer more contrast against the white beadboard. For ceilings, I tend to stick with warm whites or a lighter shade of the wall color because they tend to pick up the wall color anyway. Plus, I hate painting ceilings, so I avoid it unless absolutely necessary!

I look forward to seeing the finished room; it sounds like you've got some great changes planned!

Anncarolyn, thank you! I love my sofa/chair/ottoman. (Actually I do like the blue but am thinking of making creamy slipcovers made soon!) The brand is Rowe. I bought them at a local furniture outlet several years ago for something crazy like 65% off retail price--I think I got the whole shebang for about $900! They are built SO well and wear like iron. I do love this blue b/c it is very forgiving with a dog and a toddler (the former is not allowed on furniture, but the latter is--although the dog DOES sometimes hop up when he thinks we're not looking :)). We really lucked out and I'm so impressed with the comfort and quality of our sofa. I had hoped to find something we could use for years and years, have re-upholstered and/or slipcovered, and I think we got it!

I hope, this week, to make up my sad little mind about colors and get on with this project. I will definitely post photos when I finish!
